Ex skater turned scooter rider here, stopped skating due to the toxicity of the community, went to scooters everyone was so welcoming where as everyone who I skated with started ignoring me and treating me like shit except one guy who I still ride whith despite the fact we're in diffrent actions sports. This gives me hope that there will one day be more people like him. Kinda sad that people will block you out based on your hobies. This video was amazing thank you keep it up

I loved skateboarding. I had to stop because I had surgery on my back and was told to stop. It made me depressed that I couldn't skate anymore, but my second passion was photography so I combined my love of skateboarding and photography together and I love it. Still learning loads. So now I take pictures of skateboarding.

Amazing podcast! I think what you guys at Braille (and you Raymond) are trying to do for the sports is awesome. I started skating when I was about 11, and stopped when I was around 16 because I got hurt more often than I Learned something new, and even though I LOVED it, it used to get me really down. I could never even manage a kickflip, and I spent hours and hours trying. I recently (like in the last few weeks) discovered your channel and it has really brought back my passion for skateboarding. I love your how to skateboard videos and they seem really accessible, I'm just not sure about starting again. I'm 30 this year, now married, with a job and a life to keep me busy, but I've got an itch to get a skateboard again give it a go. But I'm in a really small rural area of England and there's no skaters that I've seen (let alone anyone near my age) and I'm self conscious about being 'that weird guy who rides a skateboard like a child'. Have you got any advice which might help me overcome the mental block in struggling to get past, or is it a bit late to start again?

This was great! I really enjoyed it and listened to it in my truck on bluetooth today. More please. Kyro is a good interviewer. I know you have a ton of people that sub to Braille and probably don't know of me. I messed my ankle up skating with Nelson in October and after 3 surgical procedures and some healing time I'm back to walking. I got on my board yesterday and rolled around on my driveway. I'm not healed enough to drag my foot for any tricks yet.... but I'm so excited. Thank you Nelson for handling the situation well, and sorry for making that such a crazy day. 🤙🤟👌

So the original scooters predate skateboards. The first skateboard ever was a scooter with 4 metal wheels, with detachable bars. Surfers in Cali also used to rip the bars off to go street carving in the early mid 60s.

Just a few comments from Aaron's questions, I quiet skateboarding because I'm old and injuries take forever to heal and after I get wrapped out in school and work. I still try to skate but it's hard to ollie half the times. I know some of my friends don't like you guys but most of them get the concept of spreading the love of skating and the need to make money. Get some controversial skaters that don't agree that would definitely make for an interesting podcast. But this was great and great location to film the podcast on the Braille drop!

I was lucky enough to work with the YMCA in melbourne when i was in high school, around 14-15 y/o. this helped me to put a skate program into the school with us going to our local park instead of basketball or footy or baseball. we would go down (without helmets, wear a helmet when youre learning) and ride for about roughly 2 hours, being that i worked at a skatepark we got my workfriend who akso lived local to come down and coach us. all in all it worked out well for the school and as far as i can remeber that plan lasted for 5 years. so a little went a long way Edit. i just paused it around 41 minuets to write that mentioning what we got to do, a team would have been sick but we were the only school doing that in melbourne if not austrailia.

My friend once said that skateboarding wasn't really a sport, but more like a gentlemens game, like Bowling...... LOL - He's funny, but I definitely disagree. I don't rip your pants, through to your knee to the white and almost faint while peeing behind a trashcan after the incident..... haha. These are sports. They're active. They're very dangerous and can be life threatening, just in advancing to higher tiers of professionalism based in the sport - because going for the next big trick relative to the skater is always a thing, as well as for a skooter...er? and Bmxers as well as bladers. I'm 33 and a few months ago i really started getting back into skating - its been a blast, but definitely physically demanding. I am not 16 anymore lol.
