Michelle Kwan has always been my favorite skater. She was the epitome of beauty, truth, innocence, humility, genuine good heartedness and grace on and off the ice. Seeing her now skate after so many years is so refreshing. There is such a maturity in her skating and presence now. Though she still has that beautiful signature ethereal quality, her movement now suggests to tell the story of a woman with the triumphs and tribulations of a life well-lived. How beautiful.

While watching Michelle's fluid grace and seeing the American flag, I began to tear up and think, "how lucky are we to have American athletes of all races and ethnicities to represent us in the Olympics?" And then the tears flowed. On 1/6/21, I witnessed the insurrection on the Capitol along millions across the world. I'm a Constitutional and Civil Rights Lawyer and that day broke me. I'm 42 and white; my parents were activists, so I grew up with the truth and I knew all my life what it afforded me. I never could understand how skin color or the shape of one's eyes could make you different. I grew up in NYC and ethnicity as well as color was an issue. Growing up and as a lawyer, prior to the abundance of cell phone videos, I saw all the violence that many in America continued to deny. They never saw or experienced it, it never affected anyone they knew, no proof equals no existence. All of us were looking for an excuse or exaggerating, or it was deserved because, well look at the gangs, immigration, poverty, lack of education. Finally the world takes notice and our President invites the hate. Brings all the people that perpetuate the hate crimes, the authority figures that claim fear for their lives to be able to kill unarmed black men, women, children to bring back a White America, the politicians that will lie for him unconditionally for power and financial gain. In my life, as a student of history I thought there would be war on American soil. I never imagined the PotUS would wage war against the people he swore to protect. My heart physically hurts. Seeing Michelle's message was just beautiful. To know how much she cares about America and it's democracy is just another reason to appreciate her. 🇺🇸❤

Pretty and graceful, but I would like to see more jumps and spins. I know older skaters want to minimize the risks from jumps, but they can still do spins and easy jumps.

Perhaps you could enjoy the beauty she’s chosen to grace us with and appreciate it for what it is instead of stamping your foot like a petulant child, insisting she do more simply because you want it. @@Atlantya First of all, I’m not stamping my foot; I’m stamping my skate. 😆 Secondly, if she can do what she did in this video (in regard to physicality and fitness), then some easy spins and jumps would be a piece of cake. Finally, I’m a former competitive figure skater. I was never even close to being as good as Michelle, but with some practice, I could perform this routine pretty damn well, and I could even throw in a few easy jumps and spins. And I could do all that even though I’m a lot older than Michelle. But I won’t waste my time making a video and posting it just to appease you.

I have never understood how she is able to express, and elicit from me, so much emotion (in this video a feeling of melancoly and regret) while gliding on skates. She is still magical and mesmerizing to watch, even while just messing around. Biden is destroying us from the inside.
