I'm pretty sure you did the cannon rules wrong. It doesn't drift like you were doing it. That's for stone throwers and the poison wind mortar. For the Skaven cannon, you pick a landing point in a straight line from the cannon, then roll the artillery dice. For the warp lightning cannon, that first artillery dice determines the final landing point and it's strength. Then you roll the artillery dice again, and that's how far the shot moves forward on the ground, hitting all in a straight line, then it explodes in a small blast at the final position, possibly hitting even more models. Regular cannons don't need to roll for the strength of the shot, nor explode at final position.

@@MountainMiniatures Ok, I see you're using the WAP rules. They certainly changed the way cannons work a great deal. Have the explained why they made cannon shots scatter, as that is way different then they used to work in WFB for multiple editions. I'd be curious to know why the change.
