Playing chess back in 2003 was amazing and it was fun competing against young players, like myself, and even having the occasion of teaching a young girl how to play. I would consider myself to be one of the strongest players in my age group, but certainly not the best. I confess I have cheated without realizing before (only once against someone who could play but wasn't an expert), but then after learning one of my lesson from him which is similar to the one I'd probably have learned from my brother, I played normally and gained more experience so that I would become stronger.

Judith Polgar is such a class act. Her interview made me remember how Kasparov cheated during one of their games when she was young.

But school is also a good place to find what you like to do, your passion. You try a lot of different sports, math, art and so on. Specializing in one thing might be good but you need to know what you want first. Judit might be very talented in chess but what she is passionate about is football for example. Then it wouldn't be right to make your child into a chess master if she would be happier as a footballer.

The only thing that astounds me about Judit Polgar as far as chess is her calculation for the senseless immolation of her pieces and (somewhat) of her knowledge on positional chess which is probably as much as my knowledge on positional chess as a FIDE master for her 99% knowledge on tactical motifs. Though, I sometimes deliberate over why I sometimes draw against super grandmasters when I go over positional chess in my head or in my erudition before a match or super tournament.

A FIDE Master whose positional knowledge is the equal of a 2700+ Super Grandmaster and former number #8 in the world? Riiiiiiiiiiiight.
@spectralanalysis

+M Andrews I have. Well, not super grandmasters (sorry), but grandmasters. I think I did exagerrate. It's been so long since I've posted this comment. Nice mordant humor, which I didn't exactly get when I'd first read your comment. Judit Polgar even mentioned in one of her chess books that her positional knowledge was not so elaborate. I've studied so much about positional chess that I know very well that my chess intuition is nothing compared to her's. Though, she is more logical and aggressive, like Kasparov, but I'm more "careful" (how IGM Mihai Suba would put it) and restrictive. My positional knowledge is very elaborate. She's read more books on chess than I probably ever will, but I was (I think ^_^) comparing my chess style with her's. I have to admit, I did exagerrate, or did not make myself in such fanfaronade.

Daaym you can see the intelligence sparkling in her eyes. Also the interviewer asking some stupid questions. This idea that rational thinking is a male trait - wtf? Taking me back to 1800s
@aaronbarlow4376
@aaronbarlow4376 5 жыл бұрын
It is a male trait, women tend to think more emotionally than men. Evolutionary Psychologists have long shown via studies that the male and female brains are different. This is an overall difference though and individuals can run counter to this, you can get women with more male brains and vice versa. Also it wasn't the interviewer that brought it up, she voluntarily said that it's been said that she has a male brain.

Was there no council of ethics that opposed the father's experiment on his future children? I mean, it feels like today this would be considered a crime. No? I might be wrong.

If you think about it, every mother and father is, willing or not, doing an experiment on the child development. Judit's "experiment" was quite harmless and eventually fruitful compared to many others...

Mike Beta Yes and the same time no. Polgar's ELO (peak) listing is 2735.Yifan's listing is 2686. Polgar was effectively No1 female player for 25 years. Very few people (man or woman) can even remotely pretend something like this. Yifan still has the time to achieve this kind of excellency. Polgar already did it.

Why don't you ask her about her score against Kramnik ? loss loss loss every single time..
@emmayy67

Kramnik is a former world champion, a 2800 Super Grandmaster who dethroned Kasparov and one of the two or three greatest positional players of all time. There's no shame in losing to him.
