I personally blame NSMBWii being the first to outsell SMB1, even though it was simply for the same reason Super Mario Land 2 outsold Mario and Wario. Also, there's this branding team that ensures everything matches. There are probably more mandates than the ones Sega imposes on the Sonic spinoffs, and those have an entire page on TV Tropes...

I love how similar to modern paper marios the enviroment reacts to hammer. Like bottles are shaking, etc. Also you can now squash cockroaches for one coin.

For example, why is the Rogueport theme going so hard on the drums? Feels like I'm at a rock concert, and that's the main hub. I do like how different battle themes get their own victory themes though.

0:11 Yeah, original could use a remake as well, but unlike Thousand Year Door, paper mario 64 keeps getting made available through virtual console. You could buy it on the WiiU, and it's available on Switch Online's N64 expansion. I don't believe Thousand Year Door has ever been ported beyond it's Gamecube version, though.

Uh, there's commentary on screen that's duplicated in the subtitles for the purposed of autotranslation. The commentary is in every single video. Your phone might be cutting out part of the screen - because the video is in 16:10 resolution - in which case you can use the subtitles to see the commentary anyway.

I can't help but wonder if there's been some kind of call to arms within the community to give this game the literal opposite of a review bombing-dozens upon dozens of straight 10s-the very femtosecond it becomes possible to do so, in an effort to "make Nintendo understand" that Paper Mario should never stray from the traditional formula _ever_ again.
