The mini ones are fun to play, but the larger ones aren't great at all.

The mini ones always open up all of the way. The big ones overpay loads if you get good grabs so they have to be set weak.

15:00 -- I presume these claws don't let you drop the claw while over the prize chute? Sometimes they'll let you drop the claw while over the prize chute, so if you give the claw a good swing, you can drag prizes into the chute.

They have no real concept of position on the x, y and z axis, so yes it can be dropped over the chute. The way these work out position is through a primitive calculation involving the operator set motor-speed and time. The proper way to it is by using a motor with an encoder, which can detect physical positional change of the gantry, and then transform that into x, y and z coordinates at the software level (This is how elaut do it with the e-claw as an example). Even systems that use encoders can often be inaccurate, so imagine how awful a simple calculation where the only variables are motor-speed and time would be.

The rigging on magic-claw is just too overt. 17:14 is a good example. It's grabbing initially at a high-voltage, and then abruptly dropping to that of a low one without any smoothening. On the other hand elaut machines using Intelli & IntraXion will slowly smoothen to a target retaining value (i.e 95% pickup power -> 30% retaining), this isn't instant and is gradually smoothed out to that value, which is why it's very rare to ever to see the prongs open up like we see here, and it's almost always the case that the prize slips out as opposed to the prongs violently opening, especially when auto-claw is used. Compare that with how insanely smooth the rigging was with the e-claw at 58:28 Good rigging in my opinion should be stealthy, and make it seem as if the player was at fault and got a bad grab. Worth nothing as well, that these Paokai solenoids are struggling with most size 3 plush, despite operating at 48 volts and drawing around 3 amps.
