Ive never reported a crime like this but when i was 5, my mother found out that my father was sexually abusing me..she fled and called the cops. They did not arrest him right away.They had to start an investigation first and then question both parties. Once the evidence started building up, they got a warrant for his arrest.Then they questioned him again.And he finally admitted to it, and then was charged and put in prison. I'm sure it's different for everybody/every situation

To try to answer your question , when I was SA they collected all possible evidence and stories from me before putting a warrant out for his arrest. I had so much evidence that he was located and captured in less than a month. Possibly less than 2 weeks? This can all happen very very fast so it is entirely possible that they’re looking for him and he’s fleeing already

Im torn what to think, bc even if Santos is staying down there bc of the allegations, that doesn't necessarily mean they're true. Think about it- he's a literal child, a teenager, so he might do something dumb like skip town just to avoid having to deal w it even if he's innocent- he doesn't have the social context Gen X and Millennial do, he was born deep into Gen Z & all he's ever grown up w & seen is "toxic masculinity this" and "Me Too that " and "get written/notarized consent before you even kiss girl"- i.e. He's grown up seeing how a woman's word can destroy a man, warranted/truthful or not. The pendulum is starting to swing back again now, but its all new to him- so far all he's seen is that a woman crying " grape" is often believed on her word alone, w no consideration given to the source/even if she's shady asf. Honestly the truth is probly somewhere in between their two stories. Both will undoubtedly hyperbolic for effect, its just what humans do.
