I was there as well. I agree with Nathan. There maybe a few who were cheering for him...if anything they were cheering because they were glad he was gone.. He's something else. When Helsley was throwing warm up pitches he was clearly upset at his control after the few tosses. Cardinals went ahead and ran him...he definitely shouldn't have been left in. I also believe they should have subbed Herrerra for Pages in the 5th when they had the chance to score.

So i was on the Pirates dugout side and it was a combo of a lot of things the double, Paul was very cool to watch (why i went) and the man was tossing 100mph for 100 pitches was all nuts he deserved the standing o

I was there and was 100% giving Skenes a standing ovation. I’m a huge LSU fan, so I’ve been waiting for him to come to Busch since he got called up. There were also plenty of LSU fans in attendance, which probably contributed.

You gotta appreciate the greatness from both players especially Mikolas doing something he doesn't normally do. I will say it was still a tough loss and heartbreaking.

I watched the game at home. Mr. SKene pitched a great game, too. I don't mind giving a guy some credit for his efforts. The appluase only makes the Cardinals' fanbase look better. The Cardianls' defense was AEWESEOME last night. Iloved that!! I hope they keep it up!!

Skenes is a rookie making his first appearance in St.Louis. His reputation preceded him and he lived up to it. I could see why he was given an ovation. Cards fans appreciate good baseball when they see it. Helsley was not on and the game was lost because of it. Cards went down like quicksand. Easy for me to say I might have lifted him after the first two batters reached base. You can’t walk the lead off batter late in the game.

I would like to see a new stat . The percentage of times a guy is successful at bringing the easy rbi home from third with less than two outs. Not batting avg with risp. Easy rbi %. ERBI

I completely agree. He pitched well but the ovation was over the top. But then again it’s hard to find anything for us to cheer about. Also, I’m not an Oli fan, but boy, Mo has really tied his hands when it comes to late innings offense help. Should get better once a couple of the IL guys are back.

I'm a little surprised more fans don't like the Rickwood uniforms. I think they're sharp, especially the hats. I I'm just not crazy about any of the City Connects, they all look weird and busy to me. I like that simple classic look, a fitting tribute to black players that wore them back then.

Maybe if it was a few years into his career I’d agree with the standing ovation but considering Mikolas pitched just as good if not better, we should’ve given him the standing ovation and just stayed quiet for Skenes

We are just hoping to make Skenes like playing here so that someday, when he's 36 and his fastball has lost 12 or 14 mph, cant hit the strike zone but still eats innings, Meaux will give him a 1 year desl.

I have lived in Southern California, but I had always intended to retire back close the Cardinals (like many, a big part of my life in exile in So.Cal); however, both daughters married Californians, so they & my grand children are all here. Is there any update on Tommy Edman? Also, I certainly would not bring back our catcher early, but I do not know what the current estimate is of his number of weeks to heal. If he heals well, at times a broken bone is far better than other surgical repairs; however, this injury was complicated. We do not want to risk a Tommy Edman-like recovery.

Your ad complain is getting to be extreme. Four ads in a row! too many. As far as standing ovation for Skenes.. Skenes reminded me of Bob Gibson and how he pitched. He deserved and ovation as well as mikolas but u left Mikolas off the list if Mongermery comes back. Bob Gibson was the best pitcher I ever saw and Skenes reminded me of him.

Wouldn't count on that. There's an article that recently came out and 86 players were asked where they would like to play if state taxes, rosters and contracts were not a factor. The Cardinals received a single vote. A damning indictment of this front office and ownership if you ask me.

I would hope that the ovation was not over-the-top; however, our tradition is to acknowledge an outstanding performance from a player, even on the other team. Who knows, maybe we might actually bid on him when he becomes a free agent, because we know Pittsburg will lose after his controlled years. We too may be unwilling to compete for him, but it would be nice to let him realize we appreciate excellence.

I wouldn't count on this Cardinals front office getting a free agent like Skenes, unless his pitching falls and there is little interest from other teams. We're just not that kind of franchise anymore. Sadly this unwillingness to go out and get impact players coincides with a time when the franchise can not seem to develop quality players. And here we are.

I don't see a problem with the ovation - if it was because he pitched a good game - credit when credit is due. Rickwood uniforms and hats - frankly I just want them to WIN - play in your boxers and a wife beater who cares just WIN.

I get that it wasn't an extremely high performance, but it was a very good performance, and the fact that we still have Cardinal fans who aren't idiots (I mean, the morons demanding the firing of Mo, are just a sad indication of how far our fanbase has fallen in quality, simply because of one losing season) is a great example of why we have a reputation as good fans. Sadly I'm afraid if we 'gasp' have a second losing season, our fan base might end up becoming Philly like.

That’s the Miles I think is trending. Looked outstanding the entire game. Now if we could charge our anemic offense….No problem with the fans giving a standing ovation to Skenes.Respect given for greatness needs to continue. Would be nice if we could have that happen more frequently for our players.

No I did not have no trouble with standing ovation. This is St. Louis. I myself wanted a standing booing we hade first and third no outs and no runs manager just doing nothing right or wrong just terrible

I thought Mikolas out pitched Skenes. Miles should have gotten a huge standing O. My disappointment is that Skenes MLB arrival kind of ruins any chance of Winn getting RoY.

When people talk about restarting it isn’t bc they nay sayers - it’s bc we have the oldest team in baseball and there is a 0% chance this team is good enough to win a World Series - just as bad, we have a terrible farm system bc of dumb trade after dumb trade. I can only speak for me, but I’m totally on board with restarting, painfully. Mediocrity isn’t fun either. I’m also an Orlando Magic fan and have followed both teams for over 30 years, Mo is leading St. Louis down a very dangerous path.

It was a bad look, in my opinion. The hunky-dore Cardinal fans are the reason the product on the field is what it is. Ownership knows that they are just good with whatever. Skenes didn't even acknowledge the fans anyway.
