I've never gotten the impression that he doesn't believe in UFOs, but he's skeptical about many reports and photos because they are quite often bullshit. A healthy level of skepticism is important. Not that he's skeptical about the phenomenon in general, but there is, once again, a lot of BS out there. The idea that it should be black and white, all in or completely against, is not a good approach. Dan is falling victim to some hoaxes because he's all in. I believe it's a real thing, for instance, but I'm not going to believe every person at face value. There are often real explanations for occurrences, and when someone points out the actual explanation, it does not mean they don't believe any of it. Shit, there are ACTUAL flare drops at the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station, that my sister in Long Beach has on two occasions initially believed were UFOs. I was there, and they were definitely flares. BUT, I don't buy the flare explanation for the Phoenix Lights. The whole ALL IN, or ALL OUT approach is ignorant as fuck, about pretty much anything. I know flares. I'm former military. Phoenix Lights? Nope, not flares. Lights in the sky to the east in Long Beach? Always flares every time I've seen them. I've pointed it out, and she's open minded enough to realize "ohhh okay makes sense".

My dad was in the Air Force in the early 60's. Worked in the air defence section of Vandenburg Air Base. All he said was UFO's are real, would not elaborate to how he knew but one thing he did say was "they made you want to forget" which to me meant the military enforced silence. My older sister also mentioned that he had some top secret clearance during his time in the service. He never told anyone but his kids and wife those little details and we could never get him to say anymore on the matter. He passed in May and I still wonder what he may have seen.

In this segment he said, "Everybody wants to be special and one of the best ways to do that is to have a special experience with some special creatures from a special place." To me it's the exact opposite. I'm not saying there aren't people out there like that, of course there are. But rather, the average person doesn't want to be "special"; at least not in that sense of the word. What I mean is, people get ostracized because of coming out to the general public about these experiences. People literally lose thier jobs and become social pariahs in their towns. There are so many credible professionals (dr.s, lawyers, businesses owners, etc) who have been abducted and they go to someone like Dr. Jacobs and ask to remain anonymous, or they don't tell anybody at all and live with these horrifying experiences the rest of their lives. I saw a ufo with a friend when I was a teen and didn't talk about it much because I knew how people would react (I don't really care that much anymore). One of my closest friends recently said "It sounds like a cult" when I started talking about ufology. Imagine if I said that I was an abductee, lol?
