Sketch for Summer - The Durutti Column (Guitar Cover)

Vini Reilly - one of my most respected guitar players. With reference from a few Durutti Column's lives from 80s to 90s on youtube, I am trying to play one of my favorite song. The video is recorded on iMac and edited using iMovie. The music is recorded and edited using Apple Logic Pro.

one of the best guitar solo abums and a personal favourite of mine ;many guitar based albums are just a shred rock blur, but for me the first two Durutti Column albums are the best solo guitar records as they feature beautiful music -wonderful

Actually, Vini didn't have the Fender with vibrato arm for _Return._ He used his Les Paul for that album. Vini went down in history as saying he didn't like, initially, how the album turned out, because of Hannett's desire to be in the studio developing sounds -- Your setup is the way Vini had his in the 70s: an echo box and a guitar, which made the sound thick, but Hannett's sound chasing made the sound of Vini's guitar "spiky", in his words. This accounts for the phaser in some songs, and probably the vibrato for the guitar heard on this one. The vibrato was Martin Hannett basically chasing sounds. Regardless, excellent cover, which would make the man himself proud.

I love your durutti covers they are easier to sample because you don't use as much efx which throws off ableton audio to midi. Bless you sir!

Sorry that I am not good at tabs, but the chord structure is basically: Dm7 Gm7 Gm Dm C Dm, Gm F Gm Dm, Gm Dm C Dm See if it helps. Thanks.

I think i have it sorted but im not using a thumb plec and it dosent sound quite right, so i use a thumb plec and finger pick the rest is that right?

I'd have to say that this is a pointless cover as it sounds exactly like D.C. This is of course a very big back handed compliment. No, it's also good for a clueless guitarist like myself to get some idea of what chords are being played although even then I still find it difficult working out the fingering from watching someone else. You've got everything almost bang on to my ears. Very well done.
