Yes, we are strangers, but I love what you do, and you appreciate me watching. I am a simple Canadian woman, that lives in a small house in the woods, on a lake, with my husband, 2 goats and a dog. I like to spin yarn on my 200 year old spinning wheel, I knit, and play with watercolour and colored pencils. There, I hope you don't feel I am as much a stranger anymore. All the best...Simone

Hello Simone, What a beautiful idea to share a little about yourself. Instead of just a name and a tiny picture in the comments, we can now think of you spinning yarn in your house, in the woods, on a lake in Canada, with your husband, two goats and a dog. It sounds idyllic!🌲🏡🧶🌲 It also sounds like it could be a scene from one of Natasha’s paintings! BTW I’m Dominic, Natasha’s fiancé, living in and renovating an old Arts & Craft, country house in the Surrey Hills in England, and just about to take our two Cocker Spaniels out for a frosty morning walk around the garden. I hope more people follow your example, and share a snapshot of their lives in the comments. It makes it a richer and friendlier place. 😊 Thank you and all the best, Dominic

I will be doing that after church today 😄 Recently I saw someone dip a flat brush in two colors, one on each side and they were just swatching but I created a sunset scene in double dipped colors that is so adorable I framed it and put it front and center in the bedroom where my summer flowers whimsy painting held court for the better part of a year! It’s so fun to get inspired by you all and put my spin on it 😊

Thank you Natasha! I spent this time while listening, and glancing up every now and again, by working in my own sketchbook. I find that as I listen with one part of my mind, I also let go of trying to be too controlling and I loosen up a bit🤔 Maybe you need to listen to your videos too and you wouldn't be worried about getting too tight, lol! I own the full box set of the Faber Castell Pitt Artist brush pens and I rarely use them because I bought all their colors of their " BIG Brush Pitt artist pens" they have a way larger... and better brush tip on them. Plus wayyyyyy more india ink in them. Look for their big brush ones.. you will love them for you artwork. I use them a TON as a underpainting for my colored pencil work. And even patel pencil work. I use the big brush pitt pens along with Sennelier permanent ink brushs for tons of underpainting, under tones and backrounds. It Always a pleasure to get a relaxing Natasha video 🙂 to put on as i work in my art studio and Bindery. I hope you have a wonderful day Natasha, cheers

@@NatashaNewtonArt yeah they are absolutely great! Here is the EXACT name of them - " Faber Castell Pitt Artist pen BIG Brush " here in the states they sell these " Crafter 15 set " and very hard to find bigger sets lol. I bought the 15 big brush set and bought all the rest open stock. It's literally like 3 of the regular pitt artist brush pens put together with a larger ( and way better lol ) brush. They will work wonderfully with your art styles, and I believe Jacksons has them open stock. and of course, it's my pleasure Natasha. I hope you are having a lovely weekend as well 😄

So great to go into 2022 with a new sketchbook time vide from you,. The lovely thing about working in mixed media,is that there is no right or wrong way,you can just experiment and see what works best for you with thenediums you like to work with. It's lovely to have this time with you and haer your thought process as you work. It's great to work on a larger scale too,it encourages you to be looser in how you work because you have the space to do so. I love to use paint pens under coloured pencils too. I got some of the Pitt matt graphite pencils after your october art haul, and I have o say I love them, they are going to be a staple for me now.I often draw then scan in my drawings for my digital pieces and the fact thy are matt is perfect for this. But I love using them over the top of other media in my paintings too. I'm watching this as I'm making annd binding some new sketchboks. And also inspired by you I'm really locing arrylic gouache too. Layering in mixed media is such a nice way to work, you can really get some unexpected results that look amazing. This great video was definily you as Paul Klee says 'taking a line for a walk" and it's great to see you trying new things and taking us on your media journey alongside you. Can't wait to see part two of this to see how this landscape piece emerges.Glad to hera Patreon is working so well for you too. Hello Natasha, I can get tight too, so I did a colour swatch the other day with my pencils, all of them at once, so a handful. Using two or three and twisting them, or holding them right at the end, and possibly standing up, will use the shoulder to the wrist. So in your case, you could block in with the markers, and chose up to 12 colours over it. the only thing you can do, is lean into a colour, to repeat it, and therefore some are not touching the paper. Then use two solid colours in another direction, to bring out the colour from this that you like to enhance. You can decide to keep it, or add a fourth layer. Anyway, just an idea, for you to consider trying..... In kindred spirit, Eliza Most Beautiful Day is Today! 21st of January, 2022, at 3pm Dulwich Hill, Sydney Australia (bed office) xx

@@NatashaNewtonArt Yes well lots of ways to get loose, fast, music, standing, sitting, messy space, messy brushes, environment and it takes years to find it. Sarah Burns Studio, youtuber, her recent landscapes in her journal, fast dry brush marks in gouache with flat brushes, over her hills! Personally my space I like my brushes clean and my desk clean, lol (it isn't now) but I find this is the restriction to being loose or not. If I don't care about the end result, if I take photos along the way...in silvertone, and in colour on my iphone. that is everything, as I have a copy. Then I can add more, take more away. I like to put it a certain distance away too, chew on it for a few days.... Whatever is most comfortable or uncomfortable, you only can have a go at all of these, and try each a few times... love Eliza xx

Inspiring to watch. I generally watch videos on my tablet but today I'm on the computer. I need to start using my sketchbooks. I love doing multi media work and have a massive amount of art supplies. Just a bit topsy turvy at my place right now but one day I do plan to start making videos for my art. Not on this channel though as it's just for computer games. I have another channel where I'm doing nature videos that will provide me with inspiration for the future art. I tend to work in oil, acrylic, water colour, coloured pencils, crayons and glitter plus whatever else I can get my hands on. It'll probably be quite a long while before I start doing anything to post on KZbin though. In the meantime can enjoy watching you and be inspired. And I made it all the way to the end again today.

Careful. Even if you wash thoroughly after, whatever is in the paint still goes into your blood through your skin while you paint. I would not do this with the more toxic pigments even for a few seconds. Just my opinion 🙂

Love your videos Natasha so inspiring but you use so many different materials, which is great for you but most folk only have limited painting/drawing supplies, and as you know art materials are not cheap. Could you film something with just coloured pencils please.

Hi Steph! This is just the way I work - I don't think I've ever created a piece using only coloured pencils, as I would always add either pen, Neocolor, or paint. I think it would feel unnatural to me to work with just the pencils on their own! If you search KZbin for "coloured pencil artist" you may find some illustrators who work only in coloured pencil.
