the real question is, how does anyone NOT have a million unfinished sketchbooks lying around?? it might just be my art supply addiction talking but there’s nothing better in this whole darn plane of existence than getting a brand-new sketchbook in the mail and NO ONE can convince me otherwise😤✨ anyways, this video really helped with my art block! out of all the sketchbook tours i’ve seen, yours always motivate me the most

sera I have more unfinished sketchbook than the three I’ve been working on, but I don’t like the actual sketchbook... like the paper/binding/feel of them. I decided to only finish my strathmore ones for now! 😇✨✨✨

I personally really enjoy sketchbook tours that avoid a narrative formula. I mean, I'll still watch them, I watch every sketchbook tour that is ever suggested to me by YT. But I have a harder time focusing on the ones that just tell you what is on the page. This sketchbook tour is as much for you as it is for the audience. You have the spotlight to reflect on the techniques you used...what you hoped to work on, what you worked on instead, what you learned, what you didn't care for. Where you were when you drew certain things (physically and maybe even mentally). When you go through a sketchbook and describe your personal journey through it, I think that's what really hooks people in. it doesn't have to be super personal either! I've watched some were people tell stories of a time in their life, and some where they just crack jokes about their art. But most importantly, make these tours just as much about your experience while doing the videos

Oh wow, I absolutely LOVED the stuff in this one. Super inspiring to me. I'm still slowly catching up to the recent videos. It's crazy to see the progress. Even if you worked in this sketchbook over a long period of time, it felt very cohesive because there are still a lot of your artistic quirks in it. Yeah. I loved it.

I do get weirded out when I paint outside. Painting en plein air is weird for me because live reference has real depth and that hurts my brain after using reference from photos.

I have the same mindset with sketchbooks! If I don't like the beginning of it or where it's going I start over.. and so many artists suggest just letting sketchbooks be messy with bad art, but I can't live like that, I need to fix it all and cover things up that I don't like, or just rip the page out entirely .

I have the exact opposite problem lol.... too many things to say! I feel like there is a lot you can talk about: what inspired you? what materials did you use? what do you like about it? what you don't like about it? what works? what doesn't work? what were you trying to achieve? Was it just for practice? Or more serious? What did you learn from it? Why did you choose that subject or medium or style? Other random things you associate with the subject or the experience of creating that piece of art? What would you improve next time? If you were to paint it again, what would you do differently? How do you feel about having completed your sketchbook? Why did you decide to fill up all of your old/partially filled sketchbooks? I could keep going but I doubt anyone is going to read all this lol. Hope it helps!
