To answer your question, comics, concept art, fantasy art. Keep doing what you're doing. Love the traditional art vids best. I'm a combat wounded veteran and struggle with PTSD and depression. However, your video has just inspired me to draw again. Nice to see you're back.

Ever since I was little, I have been interested in superheroes. It all started with power rangers and the 90s marvel shows. As I got older, i really hit it off with the original xmen and spidey movies. I've always wanted to draw comics since I was young and I finally got serious about drawing around 4th grade. I started making my own characters and I tried learning as much as I could by mostly reading and occassionally watching videos at the time. Now, I constantly do both trying to improve and I'm currently redesigning my OCs and working on my first independent comic for fun. Nothingserious, just something for fun and myself. You are a huge inspiration to me and I appreciate all of the tips you give. I hope you keep posting videos, bcuz I love them and your art! :)

Thanks Elijah, That pretty much describes me as well, Although i'm a bit older than you so the inspiration might have been a bit different the goal of getting enough skill to create something awesome is the same.

I draw and paint in most mediums/media and tattoo. My range is similar to what you do in that I go from realism, comic art etc. I also read comics from time to time. Did a lot more when I was younger. One of my favorites is spawn. Much of Todd McFarland, Greg Cappulo, Angel Medina, Danny Miki, Al Rio, and all of the greats from the past like Stan Lee, Jack Kirby etc have been at the top of my list. A lot of the ones that have come from Heavy Metal I really enjoy too. Boris Vallejo, Frazetta, Ken Kelly, Louis Royo, Jeff Easley, Clyde Caldwell, J. W. Waterhouse, Jean Leon Jerome, and just far too many to mention here I have learned and been inspired by. I have done a couple book covers that were published but circumstances happened and they are no longer out. Soon hopefully things will change yet again in my favor. My two favorite mediums to work with are pen & ink with watercolor and oils. Recently started learning calligraphy. Quite challenging for myself! Lol! Anyway you have amazing work! Really enjoying your sketchbooks. Love your style! I'm a newbie to your channel and I've become addicted! Lol! Keep up the great work, looking forward to watching the rest of your videos and to see new ones come out!

Used to read comics when I was younger, that's pretty much what got me into art then I broke away from that and started to get into realism, branching out to clay and painting and now full circle back to comics.. I've been trying digital I like it but still favor traditional.. some of my favorite artists frank frazetta, alex ross, karl kop, kim jung gi , love your work and have learned much very inspiring thank you.

Used to read Marvel and DC. Been living in Japan for a while and mostly read Manga. Oddly even find some DC and Marvel in there from time to time. Also looking at various video game characters for inspiration and number of the classic illustrators are making their way into my interest: Frazetta, Kley, NC Wyeth, Leyendecker. Love your art, keep up the great work.

I draw comic book art and more cartoony figures. Would love to start drawing more characters from my imagination but I struggle with that. Most times I have to reference another drawing to come up with something of my own. I know it takes more practice but like you my time is limited even for just producing art. My daughter is starting to get interested in art and she’s 10. This has given us more things to talk about and share. I coach her travel softball team so that takes up most of our time but something like art is just more chill and Rather then yelling at her on a field.😁Anyways I really enjoy your channel. It’s given me more inspiration to sit down and put some things on paper. Keep up the good work bro!

Hello there! Amazing things in your sketchbook I see :) To answer the question: In my country /Bulgaria/ we have a tradition with comic book artists - one name that immediately comes to mind is Peter Stanimirov /he has an Artstation account/ because I admire his art with all my heart - I even got a book of his. But I started saying - we do have this tradition of truly amazing comic books and stories - I especially loved the older ones that are just black & white, with so much realism and detail it's stunning. And they were history themed so I could look at the muscles of the horses, the dresses of the women, the weapons - all day long. But last years - mainly after all the American influences flooded the market - those things disappeared and got mixed up with superheroes, Barbies and the idea that any and all that's called "comic" is for children 18 & younger. It's extremely sad - at least for me - to see the really good artists we have looking for exposure out of their -our - own country because they're not appreciated enough. So, yes, I do watch videos that do comic book things, especially like yours because I see a hint of the same things that fascinated me in those old ones. On a different note - the dude in the back at about 5:00 kind of looks like the roo-men from Tank Girl :D or a very old Tony Tony Chopper.
@SketchyTrav4 жыл бұрын
Comic books like "Monstress" and "These Savage Shores" have beautiful Art and great adult stories and should be treated the same way society treats a good novel in my opinion. I would love to see comics like these gain more public attention. The dude in the back definitely looks like a roo-man. I did a Tank Girl poster awhile back so its probably something that has nestled into my mind.
@themorenajay4 жыл бұрын
@@SketchyTrav I can't agree more. Actually These Savage Shores is exactly the style of the ones I remember from our historic ones. /Just looked them up, thank you for sharing them as titles! Will definitely spend tome time to read what I can find online/. I do like some of the ""American" ones too - especially some Spiderman ones - but when it's so much people forget what we have as our own it gets a bit more bitter. Recently I got the first two volumes of "Jack Eridon" - a comic done by a Bulgarian artist too which is also pretty much an adult-read.

Sketchy Trav I like Videos where the Artist Explains the Sketching Process and Why he/she does what thy do. To be Honest I think a Video That Helps Younger Artist wld be a huge help. I know when you get to your Level it’s easy or easier to do the lines and Sketches that you do. But, as Younger Artists sometimes it’s hard to Find a Path that Helps Improvement when us as Newer Artist Strive to get better. I think a Video that Covers Some of the Key things to Work on wld be Helpful.. or Maybe a Video where, if you cld go back and tell yourself to work on these Key things, What wld thy be.? Example: Line Weight, Shading, Gesture, Anatomy.. And Why..? Thanks again for the Channel and Inspiration. I hope that I Awnsered good enough for you to understand it.. 👊😎

I guess I am late to this video but I wanted to answer your question, I got into art after I had a really scary illness I was in the hospital room 2 years ago and I told myself what I really would like to do that I have never tried, after thinking for a while I realized I have never tried to learn how to draw, so I started back then, I am not as good as my three brothers, they are really good, but I am getting there, that was part of the reason I've never tried, they were too good, so now I am learning in KZbin, not to impress anyone but to cross it from my list.
