Roisin you are a scream. I love your videos, never knowing what is coming. Here in sunny Scotland we call blackberries, brambles and you are quite right when you go to draw/ paint they've disappeared from the hedgerows... I'm thinking it was maybe a harvest mouse or similar that was probably more terrified of you than the other way around!! Bless you and thank you for your delightful approach to all you bring to your youtube channel xx

@@JoAnneSmith-di8ok wow! People are full of positive things to say about rats but at the end of the day they will do whatever they need to do to survive. I respect and fear them and I certainly don’t love them. They have been in my studio (once) and all around it when I had a bird feeder, which of course I stopped. I never use poison because it’s cruel and poisons the food chain but if it enters my territory, it’s leaving in a box!

Sweet warm blackberry juice collecting in the bottom of a cooking pot. Encountered my first snake too. “I love nature . . . in theory . . . “ 😆. I can relate!!! But if I have to see a rat I’d rather it be on a sunny day near a hedgerow full of blackberrys than on a NYC subway platform. Years ago when I worked in Manhattan a rat the size of a cat ran onto the platform accompanied by shrieking, hopping and creative dance moves by my fellow subway passengers. He was more afraid of us I’m sure but I’ve never forgotten that fat rat bastard - scarred for life.
