SKETCHING IN THE ALPS: Accordion Sketchbook from Berchtesgaden

Hey everyone! Today I want to share with you a sketchbook that I did on my trip to Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps this September. I decided to document my weeklong trip in an 18-page accordion sketchbook. All of the ink and watercolor drawings you see were completed on location (with the exception of the map on the first page).

Love the map on your calendar page and this newer collage element adding geology, architecture and people gives such a wonderful sense of place. Love when you add exotic foods or other surprises. Captures the meaning of travel journal to me. Great to see this new video ;)

Really great travel sketchbook Danny :) I'm thinking of getting an accordion style sketchbook for an upcoming trip. Did you find it hard to sketch with, awkward or somewhat clumsy at all? I'm trying to picture how it would be sitting somewhere holding it on my lap and sketching something. Is it awkward for that at all? Thanks!

Thanks! I don't find it at all clumsy to sketch with an accordion sketchbook. I usually have the rest of it closed while sketching, so you don't notice much of a difference until you open the whole thing. :)

Thanks, Sonja! The price for commissioned pieces usually varies and depends on the time and complexity. Unfortunately, due to packaging restrictions from COVID-19, I'm unable to ship outside of Europe at the moment.
