If you follow the tutorial it should work, but let me know if you have any problems.

@@InteractViz Thanks mate, still waiting for SU to load...but I will come back to you. last 10 days I thought i watched all youtube but couldn't find the solution.

@@mamutakada I did same thing few months ago and nearly gave up. Some greek gamedev eventually told me to look at directions of faces and then I figured out the rest.

@@InteractViz good there are geek gamedevs around. I've just tried again. The lightmapp is indeed fine and better than anything else I've been able to come up with. First time I've seen 100% texel validity. So thanks for that! However, I can't get rid of the artifacts. Once the model is ported to Unity, I assume Unity creates triangulation and keeps connecting the pillars (same pillars Mises used on your example I guess) and that keeps popping up after baking the light. I've tried limited dissolve in blender but that only mildly helped. At this point, I assume something is wrong with the geometry in the SU and should be fixed there. Those pillars are basically an iron cross in the center with two L shaped iron profiles around it. All of that is then wrapped with chrom plates to get the shiny look. Whoever did the SU model was quite literal and did all the parts of those pillars. The problem is, they have gaps or whatever (I have only very basic knowledge of SU) that needs to be solved before Unity does the triangulation on import. I might just pick another model to start learning this. Btw do you have some blog or website?

@@mamutakada Can you show me a photo of these artifacts, just post a link in here. I have been working in field for many years now, but only now starting sort of social media involment for myself. So right now I only have this few days old youtube channel :)

Can we see the materials we selected in sketchup in unity

Dumb question here. Is "baking" the name of the tool in Unity or something else?
@InteractViz3 жыл бұрын
Yes it's a tool that helps you to save data of lighting inside objects. This Works well for static objects, but is not functional with moving objects. The largest benefit of it is, that it makes model much lighter to run. Instead of constantly calculating light, its all part of the models. I hope that helps to understand.

Hi the video was great help. Now i see all positions are 0,0,0 in unity. Struggled with it in many ways for hours. But no solution. Can someone help?

Sorry, what exactly is the problem?

How could you know that? I can't find it in manual.

Sorry know what? What version of Sketchup will work in Unity? Well first of all it depends of what version of Unity and what pipeline your using and then what version sketchup it is. When it does not work it tends to not recognise that its Sketchup file. But like I said, if you have a sketchup you should be able to export it to .fbx Follow the settings in the video and it should work on any version of Unity and any pipeline.

how much was the size of your sketchup file?? i asked one friend of mine to send any of his work just to experiment but my unity took too much time in exporting the materials still I didn't get it can you tell me what could be the reason behind it??? and thanks for the video I was looking out for something like this...
@InteractViz3 жыл бұрын
Did you export it properly like it's shown in the video? Also when you export sketchup model, make sure the view in sketchup shows materials. I work with sketchup models up to 1gb big. fbx sometimes ends up 2gb big.

Is it work if I imported skp file in unity?
@InteractViz2 жыл бұрын
In theory Yes, it should work. Just make sure directions of faces are correct. Some versions of SketchUp are not supported though. You might wanna do some testing, I believe 19 works. I dont remember regards to lightmaps and padding. I would prefer .fbx tho
