G'day Aaron from Australia. I really like your videos; you are taking my Sketchup to the next level - thanks. I mirror a lot; one of my tricks is to grab a copy of two objects (one that I want to flip and a 'sacrifice') (the 'sacrifice' can be a single line drawn outside the group) and move them. The 'flip along' tool, in this instance, gives you the option to mirror on the 'direction' that you just moved without regard for the axis of the individual group. Then I delete the sacrifice. Woe - I made that sound really complex but I don't think it is. Cheers

Mirror was a tool I struggled with until I found an extension by TIG, after this video i can handle mirror tasks a lot better, did not know about scale either to mirror. Great tips!

You can also make an off-axis group into a component and then change the axis of the group/component to align the bounding box to the square faces. Flip along now works the way you’d expect. If you don’t want to keep the component you can then explode it and reform as a group or leave it as loose geometry.

Thanks Aaron, great info, gave me a lot to reflect on (sorry couldn't resist). I love Curic Mirror too, easily the quickest way to mirror geometry.

Another confusing layer to the flip along tool that should be mentioned is that if you select multiple groups and go to flip them it no longer says "group axes", because you have several ... in that case it uses the overall model axes, which adds another thing to think about. That said once you use it for a bit it all becomes second nature and it is my usual go-to (mostly because I forget I have curic mirror - which is awesome).

Flip along would've helped me to avoid so many tears lol. Thank you Aaron!

Good video - would love a video about modelling symmetrically. Know any other techniques beside using a mirrored component?

Thank you Aaron for your great videos which I admit they helped me tremendously. Like yourself, I usually use the scale tool for mirroring. if the object/group is not matching with the universal axis, I just reset the axis to mach with the surface that I need to mirror against, and it usually works for me.

Could you go through Fredos scale extension? To scale tubes and fuselages and such.

"Axes" is the plural of "axis". Please don't say, for example, "the red axes", or worse "the red "axee"!
