So, SketchUp doesn't provide realistic enough materials? That's disappointing, because then the changes I have to do in the rendering app (e.g. Blender) will not translate back to the original model, if I need to do any changes there.... 😞
@SketchUpSchool2 ай бұрын
You can import higher resolution/quality materials into SketchUp, but they won't render realistically because there aren't currently any features for materials to reflect or interact with the light in realistic ways.

Hi I'm new to this so I'm planning to buy ipad and I want my project to be realistic So is rendering extension available on ipad as I find ipad more convenient or should I opt for macbook I'm very confused pls help
@SketchUpSchool Жыл бұрын
There is no option to create realistic renderings on the iPad. So if you want to use SketchUp for iPad, you would then need to also work on a computer where you could open your SketchUp file (in SketchUp Pro) and use a photorealistic rendering extension (which can only be added to SketchUp Pro).

@SketchUpSchool3 жыл бұрын
There isn't one set of rendering settings that will work best in every scenario. Instead, there are some best practices and strategies that you can use to determine how to best approach different types of renderings. It's a lot more than we can cover in a KZbin video, so we've put all of that information into our V-Ray for SketchUp course and made it available in our Video Course Library. You can learn more about the Video Course Library here: sketchupschool.com/video-course-library

Unfortunately, you can't add rendering extensions to SketchUp Free (the web-based version of SketchUp). You would need SketchUp Pro in order to add realistic rendering extensions.

Is there an easy, budget, ray tracing render extension that works within Sketchup?
@SketchUpSchool2 жыл бұрын
The lowest price ray-tracing extension that I am aware of for SketchUp that is also fairly easy to use is SU Podium: store.cadaloginc.com/su-podium-products/su-podium-commercial-version/. It's currently priced around $250 USD.

Hello, my name is Rishabh and I come here to ask your advice. I apply the maps in the appropriate slots, such as Diffuse, Reflect, Reflection Glossiness, Fresnel IOR and Bump, and save the skp file. But every time I try to open this skp file on another computer, the skp file only shows a single texture I?ve applied (Diffuse). I did a test creating a folder with all the textures of that object in the same directory as the skp file and it worked but I was wondering: is it possible to do this without having to create this folder with the textures and have all those textures contained within the skp file?? I would greatly appreciate hearing your advice.
@SketchUpSchool3 жыл бұрын
Your rendering tool needs to know where to find those files each time it renders the model. So if you open the SketchUp file on a new computer, but you don't have the maps files on that computer, your rendering tool can't find it. If you are using a tool like V-Ray for SketchUp, the solution is to use the Pack Project feature so that V-Ray packs all of the underlying files into a project folder. Then transfer that folder to any other computers and when you open the SketchUp file inside it, all of the underlying files will remain linked.

When you create a rendering, you can save it as an image file on your computer. Then, you can print that image file just the same that you would print any other image file.

The first question in mind is "Can you render in the free version?"
@SketchUpSchool3 жыл бұрын
No, there isn't really a way to create realistic renderings from the models you create in SketchUp Free. You would need SketchUp Pro + a photorealistic rendering extension like V-Ray for SketchUp in order to create realistic renderings. (You could try downloading your SketchUp Free file as a .skp file and then try to import it into another software to create a realistic rendering, but it would be easier and less costly to upgrade to SketchUp Pro if you need to create photorealistic renderings).
