Dovin's Acuity could see play in a deck like Fog where you are frequently casting spells during your own main phase already.

It's interesting to hear different opinions on these cards since I haven't really followed the mtg meta until recently and can't judge cards very well for myself. Strictly Better MTG said that fireblade artist will be great while mirror march is terrible because of its inconsistency, but you thought fireblade was just okay and that mirror march was great.

Depends in your play style like fast decks that win quick and stops alot stuff your opponent plays, mirror match sucks. But if your more into quick ramp or slow control jankyish builds it's awesome. It personally made me smile when I saw that card.

Mirror March is not a good card in commander. It's too expensive and only slots into ONE deck (the coin flip one). High CMC and silly effect does not = Commander playable.

Skewer should have been an Instant. Having it as a Sorcery really drops it's playability outside of Limited and some Standard decks.

Not really. If you control a Ghitu lavarunner or viashino pyromancer you can go lightning strike or wizards lightning on turn three and then skewer and then cast another Ghitu, firebrand or wizard lightning or skewer if you have any of those.

Mono red burn doesn't want to wait to your turn to burn creatures you cast. No it wants to kill you so fast you cant even react. So we now can have 8 lightning bolts in are decks. Three super fast burn creatures (Ghitu, viashino and firebrand). A board wipe, insta damage and combat jammer(goblin chainwhirler). And even ways to quickly fill the hand (risk factor, the flame of keild,) and the super op experimental frenzy letting you cast multiple cards in a turn.

@@zanerich9460 Reread what I wrote. You literally gave me a corner case with your Comment. The card's overall playability outside of Limited and some Standard decks is very small. The card needed to be an Instant for it to see play outside of those 2 environments. It's not Vintage, Legacy, or Modern payable because it's a Sorcery. It won't really see play in Commander or Canadian Highlander, and probably won't see play in Pauper either because it's not an Instant.

@@SmaugUKA sorry, I reread your comment I read it differently first time. I agree with you about it not seeing play anywhere outside of limited or Some standard. Mainly because why play something that can be bolt most of the time when you can literally play bolt.

It's lightning bolt basically always in the right deck (mono red burn) and that decks wants to unload everything as fast a possibe. So the fact that its sorcery speed doesn't matter.

@@zanerich9460 No its not basically Lightning Bolt. Bolt is an Instant. You really seem to be undervaluing how much of a difference this card being a Sorcery is. A Sorcery based Lightning Bolt is already a card in Magic, yet it sees much less play than Instant speed Bolts. This card is a 2R Bolt that's both a Sorcery and can only conditionally be an R spell. Cards like that don't see play outside of Limited, Block Constructed, and some Standard.

I think you’re misinterpreting what Standard is right now. It’s a conditional lava spike. Outside of Standard it’s bad, but IN Standard it’s just as good as bolt thanks to the 12 indirect burn creatures we have. Pyromancer, firebrand, chainwhirler.
