Wow, I'm amazed how little HP you actually need for a mountain sled to get around on the hills. That's a bit less than 1/3 of the HP than what everyone typically uses on the mountains. There's also about 1 inch missing from the lugs of a typical mountain sled. I always found with Gen4 if the temps are in the right zone you get ice/snow damns at the back of the tunnel which can cause high temps if you don't get off and smack it off. It sounds like the old classic Ski-doo 2 stroke sound which is nice to hear.

skidoo claims 40 and 55 hp for the neo + I wonder if you could tune it for some more power? my old Arctic Cat ZL500 puts out 80hp out of 498cc! I image the 600 EFI in the NEO has some headroom and its prolly good for 80-100

I never could figure out why Polaris doesn't have a 146 track option for their 600 pro RMK. A shorter track makes snowmobiles much easier to maneuver which is what younger, smaller riders need. Hopefully with Polaris offering a 146 in the 9R they will also offer the shorter track in the 600!

I was a adrenaline junky and snowmobiles were my needle 💉..lol but I became disabled in a workplace injury back in 2003. So my needs are a lil different than most adult sledders, I can't stand so I need something that lays over while seated. This 34" front-end would be cool, I was building a sled with a 32" front-end before I couldn't 🔧 wrench anymore..smh but I'd swap in the 108hp 583's from the late 90's MXZ's under the hood, then put a 165"-175" track possibly using a 15" wide track. I think that'd be awesome 👌 👏 👍! I still have 5 and 1/2 snowmobiles in the shop. ..lol...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠

@@sleddermag I can't stop thinking about sledding 24-7 FOREVER! I'm a hopeless sledhead! Much to my family's shagrin! They've got lucky that I can't mechanic anymore, but I still have the urge. My ears 👂 hear a 2stroke engine fire up, my head turns, and I'm searching for the sources!.. Speed was my drug, snowmobiles were the needle 💉! Living here we have 8mos of winter, so sledding is a great hobby here. I've still got ALL my old toy's, because I refuse to give them away for penny's. Another project I was working on when I got hurt, was a Suzuki RE5 rotary engine 500cc 2stroke motorcycle 🏍 that I was building for the Bonneville salt 🧂 Flatts, with a goal of 200mph by adding a turbocharger and a lil squirt of nitrous oxide to reach my goal. I've got a garden tractor 🚜 with a Yamaha Virago 750cc v-twin engine for pulling a weighted sled at the fair, and multiple other things that I can't fix up anymore. My grandson is almost 2yrs old, so he's my jocky in training, my daughter isn't thrilled about his love of taking risks, he's a lil stunt baby..lol hope you're having a great spring!..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸🤠

So could you take the mxc sport exhaust and retune the EFI and get 85 horsepower?
@tatianaS988
@tatianaS988 11 ай бұрын
You can get an exhaust and a clutch kit for this sled, I saw the kit online. Was thinking about getting one myself. You could bring it close to 80hp, but you'd need remapping done to get all the HP, and I am not sure how easy/possible/feasible that is.... not worth for the last 5 hp in my books. The sled is very light, so while indeed it has less power, it is pushing much less weight as well. It is still peppy. I am not even sure if I want to uptune it now.... don't want to too much power dodging trees in the bush. My last sled was Polaris switchback and I got bored riding trails; and off trail, while it would kick any short track sled, it still was not that good in deep snow. Took Neo+ into the backwoods today, it's perfect. Doesn't beat up my body. Really a joy to come home feeling rejuvenated and just relax after the ride, instead of muscles agonizing for a couple of days as I used had it after muscling a big sled on big rides. I was still very nervous if it would be too little of a sled for me, especially since I rode much bigger and more powerful machines. But after I rode it, I knew that I did make a right choice. I actually rolled my Neo+ on my first outing, landed skis up, and righted it effortlessly, no struggle at all (I am a slim female).

@sleddermag 10 ай бұрын
Both riders are over 6' tall and 190 lbs-ish. HOWEVER, don't mistake Summit Neo+ as a fully mountain capable option for grown man-children like us. 100% yes, Ski-Doo designed the sled as a stepping stone from a youth sled for youngsters, or as a beginner sled for new riders with mountain aspirations. so full size sled with half power. not understanding where the mid-size other than HP is.
@sleddermag
@sleddermag Жыл бұрын
It's not a full sized sled though. Everything is downsized-lower ride height, suspension, seat height, smaller seat, smaller handlebar, riser, etc. It feels smaller and more manageable than a full sized sled in our experience riding it. 34" ski stance is another key element. Thanks for watching!

@@sleddermag yeah also minused a spring and a front shock limited ride. @sleddermag
@sleddermag Жыл бұрын
@@mikeh4053 The point is to make a more affordable sled to allow easier entry into the sport for new riders. It's half the price of a top-of-the-line mountain sled, which would terrify a new rider anyway. Easier to afford, and easier to ride, until the rider has enough experience and confidence to want more performance, at which time it will probably have good resale value. It's a total win for the growth of our sport.
@mikeh4053
@mikeh4053 Жыл бұрын
@@sleddermag dont disagree on trying to price point something, and resale. Just saying mid size it is not. Its a stripped down full size sled. Ill take cats offerings where they literally went half the motor, and didnt cheap you out of needed tools to ride compliance. Doo could of went with learner keys but make you buy another to step up for same sled.

This isn’t for racing. It’s designed to be easy to ride, not scare a kid if they give it the beans and to cold start super easy every time. And it’s going to go years before anyone wrenches on it. Your 440 is very likely faster than a 55hp kids sled, if you want to impress someone go race a turbo 850.
