Ski review: Rossignol Experience 86 Ti (2022)

We some of got our hands on the new allmountain Experience 86 Ti from Rossignol coming in the fall for next winter season 2021/2022.
Our test rider Petter is giving you his honest opinion on these skis, and he also explaines what kind of skier he is.
Lengths 167, 176 and 185cm (radius 14, 16 och 17 meters) and weight per pair is 3200, 3600 och 4000gram.
Core of the ski is made of poplar wood, reinforced with Ti (Ti is short for Titanal and that is a metal consisting of about 85% aluminum with smaller amounts of zinc, magnesium, and copper) and carbon. Quit a bit of a tip rocker, small and tiny tail rocker. The skis are built with some recycled materials, for example it´s 100 procent recycled steel edges.

I appreciate your candid review. You appropriately tested the ski in factory condition, but I wanted to pass on to other viewers my experience and suggestions. Despite your warning about the ski being nervous in softer, uneven snow, I purchased the Basalt model in 176 cm. I had the same experience with the factory tuned ski. It was a bit unpredictable in off-piste conditions and therefore not much fun. I put a 1-1/2 base bevel on the edges from the tip to the white/black base color transition. (I also put a 2 degree side bevel on the edges.) I kept the edges sharp except for about 3 inches at the tips where I used a gummi stone to dull them just a little. The result was the complete elimination of the nervousness. The ski carves wonderfully (as before) but is now stable in several inches of uneven and cut up snow, and does not dart about when running on the flat. I'm very satisfied (actually thrilled) with the ski, but only after my tuning modification.
