You are brave! Skid Row began in the 1930s. It was supposed to be a place where people who lost everything in the depression could find food, shelter and support. It degenerated over decades yet it's shocking to see how far it's fallen now. How does anyone there maintain any kind of hope? I suspect they don't. I wonder if there are many suicides or if people are so sick, depressed and addicted that they allow their life spirit to just fade away into nothingness. Thank you for sharing this heartbreaking glimpse of a side of the human condition experienced by some people with whom we share the planet. It forces us to remember to be grateful.

After a football game at The Coliseum, my father took me on a drive through Skid Row just for a kind of “learning/reality check.” Still to this day I remember that drive and realized how good others have it without even realizing it. Be safe out there my guy. It’s only gotten worst since the early 90’s

I used to work that area of skid row of the phone company in the late seventies. Yes, it was bad but the only thing I was worried about was my lunch! Over the years, too much slack was given to the homeless. The city would literally clean out the alleys and sidewalks every morning. They didn't care if the homeless complained or not. If you didn't vacate, you got a disinfectant shower.
