Everyone should get a chance to ski, it's an amazing sensation, and the views on a clear day of the surrounding views are almost a religious feeling, at least for me it was, great video, thank you.

places like Killington generally made me want to never ski again. massive overcrowding and huge lift ticket prices. there are much quieter places in VT with as good or better terrain for all levels. not that Killington doesn't have great runs. it's just hard to get your money's worth unless you luck out on a low population day.

If your from the states, I highly suggest trying some Europe resorts, they have a completely different feel to them and it’s great

I think it’s because in Europe there are trails of all difficulty levels (including beginner and intermediate trails) that are located above the tree line. Whereas in the US, you’ll typically only find bowls above the tree line, and no actual trails. And that’s if you’re lucky enough to visit a resort that reaches higher than the tree line.

@@Hokiebird428 rockies in the west, lots of powder, deep and fluffy. in the northeast, the mountains are lower. I think Jay Peak in northern VT claims the highest vertical, but to me that always just meant colder not better. eastern US/CA is edgey and icy. I'd say that's the more significant difference. one of the better areas (IMO) are Mount St. Anne near Quebec City, CA. not gonna lie though, I was only interested in diamonds and moguls while on skis. intermediate and easy trails for the snowboard though! 😅

skiing the path of the old great eastern trail, the original. the best expert top top to bottom run at Killington is Catwalk > High Traverse > Launch pad > Bittersweet > Vertigo head wall > The Stairs > Carpenters run> Home strech/Greateastern > Valley Plunge. that is the best top to bottom for an expert, in the humble opinion someone who has skied at Killington since he was 3.
@skiwithgenerationsnow7 ай бұрын
We might look into that next time. Thanks!
@Shawn-wt4kh2 жыл бұрын
Yep, this is the longest route at Killington! The only negative is that sometimes the guns are going full blast on Launch Pad across Superstar and it creates zero visibility. But otherwise I love ripping turns on Great Eastern.

posting before i watch to see the actual route, but if memory servers, the longest possible route is boring af because it's a green trail that goes from killington peak all the way to the bottom of the mountain on the far side of the ski resort, and you're almost polling your way for long stretches.
@daneg8 ай бұрын
not quite the route I had in mind. but I vaguely remember great eastern. best trail name at killington: duck soup. heh.😀
@TheCreditShifu8 ай бұрын
Yeah you can make the top more exciting with some blues and then there are greens towards the bottom. I think what you are thinking of is a run called Solitude that yes, the first 20 mins or so is basically cross country skiing, pretty much flat and then it turns into a long mellow green in the woods.

Is it really LONGEST route in the Killington ski area ? If I correctly understood - it is only 4 miles (6.4 km) - little longer than longest route in the olympic Sochi (Roza Khutor) - about 5.5 km :-).

Yes. This is the North East USA, the mountains arent that big. Probably longer routes out west.

They used to claim 10 miles on Juggernaut. Multiple sections of that are abandoned, though and they were fibbing a little, as you had to take Juggernaut, Juggernaut Too, ride the Northeast Passage Triple, and finish Juggernaut to the bottom of the gondola to get ten miles.
