Skiing the Classic Haute Route 2023

It’s hard…very hard. The beautiful descents are only possible after very long climbs. The views are breathtaking. We got stuck for 2 nights at Vignettes due to a storm and our last day was a double day into Zermatt. 9.5 hrs with blizzards and crevasse fields for good measure. One of the best but hardest experiences of my life. Thank you for taking me back.

Sorry for you couldn’t do the final to legs down to zermatt. Remember some heavy climb to cabane Bertold. And very nice descend to zermatt, in 2009 April. Nice video and good music.

Brilliant Video! Nostalgic since I hiked the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt & then Saas Fee many years ago during late July! I well remember the epic Cabane des Vignettes en route! Thanks for reviving some personal memories!

The problem of the «Haute Route» Chamonix - Zermatt are not the skiing downhill sections but the difficult steep climbing sections. - A correction: Arolla is not located in Italy but in Switzerland.
