I was in Fairbanks Alaska while in the military, the first time i saw a spectacle such as this i was totally consumed by the event. I never tired of watching them throughout the winter months. Thanks for sharing, great vid.

I saw a brilliant display of northern lights in South Dakota, USA in 1960. Swirling red and green lights filled the sky. Cars stopped by the side of the road out in the country and people stood in silence to watch the magnificent display. It was a moment none of will ever forget. Lovely video.

Spectacular! Just remember , don't whistle during the northern lights. I once saw a moonbow (a rainbow lit by the full moon) . Conditions have to be just right. Wish I'd had a camera that would capture that.

@@FinnishPlayground I only get alerts if there is a flare of M Class or better or a storm with a Kp of 5 or better. also any flare with a CME. Not like I check it like I do my local forecast. There was a M class today and they suspect there was a CME last I looked so might could be some more good nights depending on how it lines up.

Do you ever think about what it would be like to go skiing in that beautiful landscape at night and at the sametime having to watch out for Russian soldiers laying in ambush? Or snipers? Or both? God forbid. :-)
