Too bad comp work as well as roto/prep are gradually moving to India. MPC has hired at least 2000 compers in India in the past years. So its really a dim chance that one can start as a junior comper these days unless you work in India.

You are right about work moving to India but the exponential growth of high end TV work have already opened up so much vacuum in the industry that people with any skill levels are in demand all over the world.

@@RahulVenugopal5 years after this comment we’re now seeing the impact where there’s a vacuum/demand for mid level artists in house in London for example where junior roles have been shopped over to India there’s a lack of mid level artists.

what's the difference between lead compositor and comp supervisior?

Normally a Lead compositor is in charge of a sequence or sequences, whilst the Comp supervisor is the one who looks over the shots before they get sent to the VFX supervisor. The comp supervisor is also the one, well, supervising the compositors on the project.
