I really enjoyed this video, I always watch them And never see mistakes while everything runs so smooth …. Giving me a complex. Hi guys, great to see Dan back. I fit my wall hangers exactly the same but use the plunge blades on the Allsaw rather than the general purpose ones, they cut much easier. Love the back and forth between you two with Dylan laughing in the background. Already looking forward to the next part. Regards Tim

As always a very interesting video. The draw of skill builder for me, is the consummate drive of Rodger to do what he passionately loves doing. I imagine that he couldn't wait to get to the site with Dan (a proven proffessional) to create this breath of new building out of dereliction. The power play between the two guys is the most interesting. Dan, used to working on his own, but liking Rodger. Rodger's almost boyish enthusiasm, 'shall we do it this way'? Two thoroughly nice men. Can't wait to see the rest of the series...

My dear old departed Dad was a chippie. If he was still around today he'd be calling Dan a cockney something or other in his black country accent, but would really be giving him a big-leathery-slightly-sawn-in-half-thumbs-up to him as he kept his cool while a plumber got mixed up in it all 🤣 Great video Roger, top work Dan and awesome editing Dylan. That is why they are in with just 2 nails. I have pulled too many out in the past doing loft conversions etc.

The problem was when you worked it out on the bench the number was 2227.5 from centre line, you then proceeded to mark out at 2275, meaning you were 47mm too wide! We've all done it! looking forward to the rest of the series.

Yes you are right. The reason I only fixt the joist hangers with one nail initially is because of such stupid errors. As I said those twist nails are a pig to pull out.

Yep, trying to be smart with a .5 added the confusion. They remembered a 5 at the end, so it became 2275mm.

I'm going off battery powertools abit. If the situation allows, I'd rather use corded. Especially if there's room to properly set up. I've had my 18v stuff for a few years and it deteriotes quickly and is expensive to replace. Had to dig out my old school 240v makita rip saw the other day and it was much better than my 18v dewalt. Even with a not so sharp blade.

For a guy who did his first job installing toilets at the original Isle of Wight Festival, Roger looking very fit. Good jeans/genes. Many of us that age no longer here or recovering from heavy duty issues. Lots of heavy smokers but others victims of brick dust, cement dust, saw dust, industrial injuries

I'd love to know your thoughts on how the UK can realistically upgrade it's old housing stock (read solid wall construction) to even get near net zero emissions. Maybe it's near impossible. On a side note, I watched a Redrow video about their latest housing scheme..still using gas boilers and not even underfloor heating.

Elves C16 or C24 on those joists? I had an Architect and Building Inspector mess up said C16 then Nooo C24, Ripped the C16 to make rafters!! No waste. result!!!

I work with a few old guys, im 58 and the youngest! 2 chippies i work with ones 70 the other is 73. And they are both surprisingly strong but around 2 o'clock they need a lie down! Very skilled guys with tons of knowledge.

@@SkillBuilder it's good to see and know tho. I make at least one very basic error and end up feeling disheartened, stupid and miserable. Everything you see on KZbin makes out everything is super square and level and I've never encountered such a situation in my life. KZbin builders never add or subtract thicknesses the wrong way. They never cut something "exactly wrong" (100mm too short) It's just reassuring to know that I'm not really as bad as I think I am.

Hi Kevin, it's an Arbortech Allsaw with a general purpose blade. It'll cut to 120mm deep and the slot is only about 6mm wide, perfect for masonary hangers. Regards Tim

If the 4460mm was originally the width of the lantern opening how did they get to 4455mm in the end ? I can't see why they would be allowing for 2 pieces of sterling board as surely the inside faces of the trimmers would be plasterboarded, anyone understand there calcs. ?

Kevin One each end on the upstand. We had the outside dimension including the GRP so we had to work it back for the clear opening. As I said at the time that is all we really needed at that point.

The newer Stanley fat max tapes are nowhere near as good as the older silver ones. Is that a pika pencil Dan uses?

Agreed mine snapped around the 30 cm point recently. The pencil is Pica or similar alternate brand there's a few.

@@tentonhammer5469 I've got the tracer ones and they don't look that big in my hands, and I'm probably a smaller fella than Mr Cox. The newer fatmaxes are shit. My old silver fatwax lasted years and could stretch out for miles. The new ones buckle after about 2metres.

Nice little level there Roger ... I was screeding a floor once, the over-sight ran up-hill to the point I couldn't get a screed to run to the highest point (Well OUT!) .... The Foreman told Me it was because I was using a Wooden Level ... So he went and got his Metal one ... Still no difference, but all these 'Levelist' folk EH ?? ;-) ..... Did someone give 'Dan-Dan-The-Mathematical-Man' an Ice-Lolly before he started ?? .... Looks like he got Brain-Freeze a couple of times there 🤣😂🤣
