Great tuition; quality presentation; learning a lot and thoroughly enjoying my new Axminster lathe. I am sketching ideas for a turned chess set - modern theme as you might understand from a Hepworth, Moore fan. I would love a lesson from Colwin on how to turn identical forms - ie 16 pawns. One black set in American Walnut and a white set in Sycamore no problem but - identical! The project is for the new year so experiment time over the coming months, hopefully with Axminster help. Many thanks for Axminster lessons via Colwin my only problem is how to hide deliveries of new kit from my wife!

with the hollowing tools, as you are saying about the angle, do you present it similar to a scraper, cutter low, then raise the handle, or in this case angle up? and what part of the cutter are you using, the "dead ahead" ( of the shank) or at one or eleven o'clock?

Hi Andy, the following reply is from Colwin - "Just like a scraper, start with the handle high and with the cutter tilted to 45 degrees toward the surface of the bowl, then more upright toward 12 o clock the bigger the cut becomes."

In this day and age there's no excuse for such poor video quality!
