Im so happy you've found skillet. They are an awesome band and they have always prided themselves to be able to ride that line where it's witnessing for Christ, but they have toured with secular bands, because at the core of the songs, they mean God, Some others just like their sound and their music, but they're being gently preached Without smacking them over the head.

If I remember the story right, Jen had only been playing drums for 4 years and was playing at their local church. She was close to giving up because she thought she wasn't good enough. When Skillet's drummer at the time (Lori Peters) was retiring Korey and others convinced Jen to try out. John was initially against it as Jen was only about 18, but Korey convinced him to giver her a shot. You can find interviews where John says that Jen made a fool out of him because he made her tryout extra hard but she aced it.

You’ve earned my sub bro. Keep checking them out and if you get a chance you’ve gotta go see them live. And I’ve gotta say in my last comment my auto correct typed “unbeatable soul” but the song is actually “unbreakable soul” that’s my fav skillet song so far. But as the other guy mentioned Legendary, victorious, crossfire, dominion, standing in the storm, all are amazing bangers.

P.O.D., Flyleaf are a couple of other bigger "Christian bands". As a youth pastor I think it's IMPERATIVE to have great bands that people can ACTUALLY relate/enjoy. As far as language, don't sweat it. If most people truly understood Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic....it can get graphic.

Thanks for reacting to this! This is probably my favorite Skillet song, though it's getting harder to pick, the more I discover. If you like the violin and cello, here's an old live version of Comatose (maybe my next most favorite song) with both, and a nice intro featuring them. Unfortunately, the violin player retired from the band, so when they play live, I think it is just the cello player now with tracked violin. I'm going to see them in a couple of months... so excited! If you intend on reacting to Comatose, maybe do the official studio version though (just to get the richness of sound... many of the concert recordings aren't optimal).... but then watch this live version. :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIPcfKGYgMljgrM And, then here is an insanely good cover version of the song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWapaYKFg9qaarc But no cheating! Do the reaction first! ;)

"Christian" rock you might like based on bands you mentioned check out War of Ages August Burns Red they are even more heavy. If someone hasn't already said only member change was original drummer was replaced with the current drummer Jen one in this video

They are the only Christian band to have the number 1 album on the rock charts.

No if you like Skillet that dose not make you a fan of Christian rock. Skillet found the sweet spot that rides the line of both. Most other are on one side or the other
@Rocco13328 ай бұрын
There's a few that toe the line pretty well, but you're right, Skillet just nestled right into the sweet spot.

I'd say they are a rock/metal band, made up of very dedicated Christians, which has a strong influence on their music. Some of their stuff is overtly Christian (Stars), while other stuff you wouldn't know besides more positive vibes than most metal/hard-rock. Christian rock is a very different thing (wide range of styles, overtly Christian songs), though I suppose a bit of overlap.
