The lyrics in the first verse hit me hard. I've made bad decisions and I just can't leave them behind. But I am forgiven. God has forgiven me. My relationships are better. God has saved me. But sometimes those memories come back and make me beat myself up all over again. When I found this song, it hit me hard. What I've done doesn't define me. I can move on. God has used it to grow me and I'm eternally grateful. Thanks you Skillet, your music means the world to me.

I know how you feel, having a hard time forgiving yourself. There was a night I fell to a long-struggled-with sin, and i felt devastated. While in that sad state, three verses; Romans 5:20, Romans 8:38-39 and Lamentations 3:22-23; came to mind. I was ignoring them, feeling like i don't get to get off that easy. However, I soon realized, "Satan would never remind me of these verses, and I don't want to accept them right now. The only other option, it must be the Hoky Spirit reminding me of these." So realzing that, who am i to resist God? I accepted His grace. It's still a struggle to accept it, but He always gets through to me somehow. We have an awesome Father

I feel you. We all have skeletons in our closet. Horrors from my past continue to haunt me, but Jesus is my rock. This album is therapeutic for me. If you know the song Monster, it's me. I'm a Marine vet and live with that monster every day. The thought of letting him out scares me to death. Jesus is all I need!

Skillet - Destiny - Lyrics [Intro: John Cooper, Jen Ledger] Is there a place where I Could leave the world behind And say goodbye to every painful memory Where darkness ain't my destiny? This is my destiny This is my destiny [Verse 1: John Cooper, Jen Ledger] Is this the life that you want? I don't ever wanna feel this way 'Cause this is the life that you got And no one else can ever take your place I can't (I can't) I won't (I won't) Go down this road It leaves me lost (I'm lost) Alone (Alone) How did I get so far from home? [Chorus: John Cooper, Jen Ledger] Is there a place where I Could leave the world behind And say goodbye to every painful memory Where darkness ain't my destiny? I'm running towards the light I'm free of all the rage I thought would never leave This darkness ain't my destiny No, I make my destiny No, I make my destiny This is my destiny [Verse 2: John Cooper, Jen Ledger] Is this the life that you made? It's gettin' hard to tell who I am It's time, it's your life to change Even if you don't think you can I can't (I can't) I won't (I won't) Just lose myself I've got so far (So far) To go (To go) Just show me how to get back home [Chorus: John Cooper with Jen Ledger] Is there a place where I Could leave the world behind And say goodbye to every painful memory Where darkness ain't my destiny? I'm running towards the light I'm free of all the rage I thought would never leave This darkness ain't my destiny No, I make my destiny No, I make my destiny [Bridge: John Cooper, Jen Ledger] Pushing 'til I put the pain away, get away (Get away) Bracing for the weight but it cannot break me (Break me) Living like I'll never be afraid, not afraid (Not afraid) This is my destiny Pushing 'til I put the pain away, get away (Get away) Bracing for the weight but it cannot break me (Break me) Living like I'll never be afraid, not afraid (Not afraid) [Chorus: John Cooper, Jen Ledger, Both] Is there a place where I Could leave the world behind And say goodbye to every painful memory (Memory) Where darkness ain't my destiny? I'm running towards the light I'm free of all the rage I thought would never leave This darkness ain't my destiny No, I make my destiny No, I make my destiny (I'm running towards the light) No, I make my destiny (Leave the past behind) No, I make my destiny This is my destiny

So this song is a welcome respite. Much needed during these times where a lot of people are allowing fear to rule them and generally make life unpleasant. It can be demoralizing when the world seems to be collectively losing its mind, but remember there are many of us out there on the same side, keeping our heads down until the day we're called to lift them up. And even _if_ our numbers aren't high, we still have Christ who has never abandoned us nor will ever abandon us. We're never truly alone, that's only if we choose to be.
