So there is 1 mistake in this video. The correct info is: Perception covers Active AND Passive Perception. Vigilance is pretty much a character's ability to react to surprises.

I liked the tip to avoid the player saying I'm applying this skill and just describe the desired action.

Most SWRPG skills have non-intuitive uses, especially the Knowledge skills. Encourage players to give the skill section an in-depth read, as it will not only inform them of the full range of option with each skill, but give them suggestions to pitch when they roll advantage and triumph, and give them realistic expectations on threat/despair.

This is a wonderful series you have created for new players and new GMs to have a solid foundation in understanding the main parts to get up and running as quickly as possible. I am training myself to be the GM for a small, local group of friends here in the small town where I live. GM Motivation: To learn as much as possible that I feel comfortable with all the details insomuch I can easily explain it to players in a fun and engaging way. I want to take on all the weight and burden so that the players are free to be completely free to express themselves in their own creativity for their chosen character without worrying about all the rules and details to the nth degree. I've begun to record myself reading sections ranging from 1-2 minutes long in the core rule-book, starting from Introduction and working my way through all the Chapters so I can go back to any specific point and simply listen to the information repeatedly. I need a lot of repetition in order for information to sink in and be recalled in an instant. Thank you for all your hard work in all your videos, it is inspiring me to keep pushing and to not get discouraged.

Love is a strong word for me, but I did see it twice live with one being a meet and greet with the band! Musically I love it, the story is way too cheesy for me personally.

Great recommendation about encouraging players to focus on what you want their character to do (action) rather than what character stat (skill) they want to use!

That last part of the video is one of my biggest issues with new players, they look at their sheet and say "i'm not very good at that" and then they either don't do anything or they try something else that they are good at. I keep reminding them to not look at their sheet and just tell me what you want to do and then ask them to roll and it doesn't matter what system your playing either. Also another thing, while the characteristics are tied to specific skills, players could come up with a reason to use a different characteristic, also as the GM you can adjust the difficulty based on what they are doing, if it's a non traditional way of doing something maybe it's a little harder. It's been ages since I've really played this system but I am hoping to get back into it soon which is why I'm trying to find some good content to share with my potential players.

Would you mind giving a few more examples for discipline vs cool? They really do seem very similar.

Very good advice at the end: as GM and player I often have conflicts on this with the rest of the table…

At about 7:00 you talk about piloting. Piloting is based on the craft itself, not the location it's being used. As per page 116 of edge of the empire rulebook, "Routine actions-like taking off or landing without additional complications-do not require a Piloting (Space) check. When those actions are complicated by a blinding sandstorm, a failed motivator, or enemy fire, then skill checks come into play." As this is about space, and it says about a sandstorm, as well as landing and taking off, but mostly sandstorm, it shows that you would use piloting space while on planet.

Do you ever replace a characteristic for a skill based on the situation? I often allow Cunning instead of Agility for Stealth rolls.

Check out the 2nd video in the beginners guide series. It should be the same whether in combat or not, just take characteristic + skill, bigger number is # of dice, smaller number is how many green become yellow

Due to printing issues with the publisher, it is actually kind of hard to find at the moment, but I would keep an eye out for it to come back in stock at LegendsoftheGalaxy.com and shop.asmodee.com/star-wars-5-force-and-destiny-core-rulebook-swf02 Supposedly the reprints are happening around November or something but I am not sure.
