At first I thought you were speaking about Laguna, but yes I have been to Solmar Beach. First day I had to rescue a tourist, then we heard of someone who was lost the day before.Two day later same thing...another swimmer never seen again. We were there in September and the beach break was 6' to 8".

What is the best part of skimboarding, when does somone 'hit that whave' ? It seems so short. And isnt it uncomfortable becouse hitting the sand so frequently and the short duration? As a non surfer/skimboarder I cant see where the you get the kick out of this. With surfing i do.

Well this is some of the heaviest and fastest shorebreak in the world. It's some pretty extreme conditions with the best riders in the world. I've never been too hurt I couldnt keep going when slaming on the sand. Check out the dudes who ride Teahupoo and Cyclops. That shit looks uncomfortable.

Reminds me of Sandy Beach on Oahu Hawaii. Very dangerous place. I heard it was the most dangerous beach in the world because of the amount of drowning deaths and neck and back brakes. I almost died there, it was very scary.

I swam out there. It was pretty brutal getting back in. You have to let the sets pound you and it takes a few to get close enough to stand up. I totally get why people drown. Those waves they were on were pretty tame compared to what you can get.
