I am female and apart from doing small patch up jobs, never done plastering on a large scale, I decided at the age of 65 to plaster a small toilet that had painted brick walls. I watched some KZbin vids and had a go. Can’t say it was easy and it took me forever, but iI soldiered on and finished it (even the ceiling), to my surprise it turned out really well , was so chuffed with myself. Learned a lot !!

Another great video Kirk, your a natural in front of a camera mate. Tidy hair cut too 🤣. Another little trick for getting around screws that I use is to screw them in almost flush to the wall. Then skim over them and just before troweling up, locate them with a magnet and unscrew them back out. Just another option for people to try. If you’re worried you might forget where they are, take a picture on your phone beforehand!

your apprentice is very lucky to have a boss like you and to learn from someone like you im a apprentice but i have it very hard and the old school way so i use your videos to learn things my own way on the side as from learning from my job i want to be plastering exactly like you not using pva on high suction walls etc even tho we use pva for everything and they wont pay the money to use sbr to make our jobs easy thats fairenough because materials have gone up alot and its half the price for pva to sbr but still makes your job easy and can move on to another job quicker theres alot of panick and being fast in my job and i dont like it but its all i got for now while i watch your videos and im fully qualified for my own jobs ill be doing it your way! i revise from you and learn hands on from my job! keep it up man i want to be learning from you for years to come till i can do my own jobs! i litterally have a whole notepad full of stuff i have learnt from you lol and i use it in my job and everyone looks at me like im weird but i know what im talking about and i tell them i got it from your videos they think im wrong lol!

Hello, in Poland this foam would not work. gypsum putty or ordinary cement mortar with a plasticizer on the cleaned and primed substrate. Tomorrow I will be putting glue behind the pipes. I only shared technology from the East, without any allusions, it's nice that you do such things yourself. Greetings from Poland

Love that you've gone into the fine details (covering up the pipes with foam, making sure the sockets don't have gaps around when they go back). Found your channel from another video and it's been great watching. I'm a subscriber and hope it keeps growing for you. Great stuff.

Kirk, absolutely fantastic job buddy and great tips for all beginners, like myself. This is the real life of a plasterer, not a flat plain wall, all these details are where the experience comes in. I’ve only started to plaster, as a diy and I love the results but boy it’s really hard work and very messy. I’ve plastered 3 ceilings in my house and 1 whole bedroom for a friend, I’ve learned so much from you and Blaine Gray. (identifying high suction backgrounds, stages in plastering, tools to use and so much more…) Thank you so much for all your efforts Kirk, I love your videos they are full of gems for us diy-ers. Chapeau buddy!

I used to love blending and got quite good at it but during the 8 years or so i did plastering i so wish we had used SBR now instead of 1 x coat of PVA 5:1 to seal, let that dry, then go on 2nd coat PVA 3:1 we must have lost so much time there waiting for the seal to go off then the glue to go tacky and sweated when it was starting to go off faster on the bigger areas....we was never told about SBR in plastering on the expensive 5 day residential training course we went on down in Essex. Old sanded off lottery or credit card style bits of plastic worked wonders in really tight awkward spots.

The reason I am asking is I have had the heating system upgraded and had a couple of plasters along and they are saying yep! no problem, I will send a quote over never to be heard from again give them a call no answer. these were meant to be highly skilled guys with 20+ years of experience is it really that had to do?

Is there any issues with doing this when it comes to the corners. If that makes sense lol. I heard it should always be wet corners or it will look pony. Cheers, Harry
