It’s applying your retinoid between two layers! For example, apply moisturizer, then retinoid, then moisturizer again. It’s great for sensitive and dry skin types because it minimizes irritation and more dryness

Hi I am using tertinoin every other night with a ceramide cream. Morning just sunscreen with moisturiser. I ditched all my other products. Because tretinoin worked the best. Now I am looking to include exfoliater, which one should I do? And I have very dry and dehydrated skin

Skin cycling is not recommended according to my board certified dermatologist! If you want to pick different days to use different actives that's fine but your retinol or whatever retinoid you use I personally use prescription Retin-A Tretinoin Cream should not be missed any night! You will not get the full benefit if you do not use that every single night! Some people only use a retinoid once a week and that's just a waste of money you're going to get no results from using it once a week! If you do not use that at least five nights out of a week it's a waste of time and money! Not to mention that when you finally get your skin adjusted to using a retinoid especially if you're using prescription Retin-A Tretinoin Cream like I do you just completely set yourself back! Once your skin has adjusted and you don't have any more irritation from using it you don't stop using it every single night! That is to be used every single night no exceptions! The only time that you would take a day or two off is if you have a very damaged Skin Barrier and at that point you would do nothing but throw hydration and moisture onto your skin and let it heal for the few days that it would take then you go right back to using every single night! This trend has gotten a lot of people into believing they don't need to use a retinoid every night and it's absolutely ridiculous! My dermatologist says that he has seen so many women who finally got their skin adjusted to using the prescription like I use and then they started doing the stupid skin cycling thing and they started getting all the irritation back because they weren't using it every night like they were supposed to! He said this is one of the more ignorant skin care fads that are going on! And the dermatologist a KZbin dermatologist mind you that started it he said evidently has no idea what she went to school for or she never would have told people to do this with a retinoid! You can absolutely use an active acid the same day that you use a retinoid you will just use it in the morning and use your retinoid in the evening! But if you do have some ingredients that you want to do on different nights that's fine but the retinoid should never be substituted for anything else it should be used every single night! and it's even more aggravating he said especially for people who are using it to treat acne I personally use mine for anti-aging I've never had acne but for those that are using it to actually treat acne or another skin condition it's very frustrating he said when they listen to people on the internet instead of their actual doctors because they should never skip a night! Your skin looks beautiful by the way this is not an attack on you personally! This is an attack on this retarded trend that is going around that really needs to stop!
