Skin Fit Socket-Amputee Life

People keep asking me what a skin fit socket is and how does it work. I finally sat down and created a video for those interested, curious and possibly wanting to get one for themselves someday.
It’s not for everyone, but the fit is the most intimate one you can get. There is no room for volume change of residual limb so you need to keep an eye on weight change but other than that I have loved mine and have used skin fit for almost 3 years now.

I use an Ace Bandage it works better than the bag method.

Hi - I tried that system more than 20 years ago. It did not work for me because the plastic on the inside of the socket irritated the skin on my residual leg. I use a liner and have no skin issues and am able to put my leg on and off quite quickly. Putting the leg on is much easier than taking it off.

I never used it I used lotion it's better

I think better is relative. Don’t compare yours to others. Each leg has a different purpose for what the amputee can and wants to do in life. Even though mine is great for me I still had to fight, had my doctor, prosthetist and PT all fighting for me to get it. If you have a prosthetist who knows you and what you hope to accomplish then they can give advice or direction on how to go about getting it. Don’t give up!!
