I have to have an aka on my right leg due to a failed hip replacement. Now im a 54 yr old combat veteran Marine, and i am terrified. I have always been self reliant, and active, my fear is not of pain, but of not being self sufficient, and not being able to do the things i love doing. Your video came up and i feel better knowing that there are tricks to self reliance, and hearing you say you had just been surfing, eased my fear of losing activities i love. Thank you so much. You eased the fears of an old warrior.

Does the liner inside the prosthesis not rub it dig-in to your groin area? Also how does this type of suspension affect your skin?

Hi Dani, I am new amputee. Interest about using KY water base which I have not try.. I have to wear the liner and I have heat reaction on my limb. What do you use before you put the liner? How did you over come nervou?

Hi Tommie, that’s a tricky one. You don’t want to use any lube under a liner. It’ll slip off. Is it for sure a heat rash and not an allergic reaction? I switched to skin fit with no liner because of a big allergic reaction and pain at the end of my limb.

How do you drive with the loss of your right leg?

With my left foot. I can tuck my prosthesis back enough so that it’s not in the way.

What do you use for action sport? Thought the skin fit gave more control? I'm into alpine skiing and running as RAKA and about to try skin fit to improve control. Or should I go the opposite way? Thanks for your imput.

I’m not sure about running but for surfing and snowboarding I use a lanyard system. Skin fit for snow would be good. Running maybe. Sweating could cause an issue (bottoming out, leg coming off). It would have to be a really good fit.

Where did you get your donning sock? Mine is rough and hard to pull out.

Am I unterstanding well, the pores of the skin are closing after lotion administration, if they do not breath too ? This question regarding of perspiration.

P Em hi if I use lotion, it’s way too thick so it irritates my skin causing a massive allergic reaction. Water based lube won’t do that

Hi Dani Thanks for the video. I need little help 1. Which lube is best other than CVS as CVS is not available in my country India? 2. Will I get any infection because of water and Lube. Is it beneficial for irritation 3.Do I need to use only water based lube?

Faheem Hudli KY is a brand that should be water based. I’m sure there are more options out there. I have never had an infection from using water and water based lube. I also don have any open wounds on my leg. The only time I’ve had irritation is when I used lotion to don my prosthesis.

Faheem Hudli that depends. I use suction without a liner for everyday use and a liner when I’m doing sports.

Hi :) no I don’t get tired wearing it through out the day but it took a while to get to that point. I’ve been an amputee for 14 years now.
