Acne can be such an emotional thing so I totally get/appreciate why you got emotional in this video. I've been through it, and people can be very cruel when you don't look traditionally "perfect." This video is so helpful for all of use who have been through it and are currently going through it! I actually just did a morning skin care routine vid, and I kept avoiding it because my skin kept breaking out right before I filmed it. But then I remembered that the beauty of KZbin is us real people putting ourselves out there for others to relate to. Kudos for being so open and honest!

thank you so so much for this! i love how you started with the emotional aspect of it first. I was getting emotional watching you and can relate so much. I honestly feel so comforted hearing it as I have been on accutane twice and have since developed a skin picking disorder. . which is ocd but it comes from a fear of not having perfect skin. and if there is anyone else out there with this disorder I hope it helps to know you are not alone!! xx

As a teenager I never had breakouts and never quite understood why people who did would have such a hard time dealing with it -- it didn't seem like a problem until it happened to me a year ago. You've been so sweet and STRONG sharing your story with us. Thank you. I suffered of a light hormonal acne back when I was in high school (I'm 33 now) and I know I've been lucky 'cause it only lasted a couple of years. I have rosacea now - genetics, what can you do - so I struggle with redness and my skin has become very sensitive and I have to be very careful in choosing and using products for my face. Even though I am very aware of my situation I try not to get overwhelmed by it, it's difficult but when you have supporting people around you it definitely helps out! Thanks again for sharing your story, you're beautiful inside and out ;)

You are so sweet. Struggling with acne stinks! I went two years NEVER leaving the house without makeup. I started getting bad cystic acne at 18. This video was made about a year ago but I just discovered your channel and thank goodness I did. I have dealt with acne since I was 11,12 and am now almost 22 with a child. After I had my son my skin has gotten so bad. acne, redness, scarring. These last 2-3 months I have really started to research skincare and have changed up my skincare routine. I also see a esthetician and am doing peels. I just finished my second peel and I have improvement but my skin still has a long way to go. my confidence was ruined with acne, im trying to not let it define me anymore this video was what i needed to hear at just the right time ♡ thank you

I use benzoyl peroxide on big spot and salicylic acid on "problematic areas", they do help a lot. What really helped with my scarring was rosehip oil, which is very hydrating and doesn't cause my skin to be any more oily. That and really cleansing thoroughly morning and night time, but with gentle cleansers have made a big difference.

oh my God your skin looks so nice now! i turned twenty on april and acne just suddenly blew up on my skin and it lasts till today. normally i used to have small amount of monthly pimples but it changed into something far worse. i have been using all natural products for 3 years now because one day i decided to, it had its ups and downs but you now, i tried everything. i even wash my face with a natural intimate gel just not to irritate it. the natural skincare at first worked well (that was when i thought that it was horrible, but looking at it now it was just a little bit of imperfections :/) but my skn kinda got used to it and i'm using retinoids now and i hope t works. i am honestly sick of it, one day it looks fine but the next day i my face hurts and it has like 20 pimples at once. :/ really looking forward the day it just stops and my face is clear again xx thank you for the video gorgeous, you were sooo true about the depression and feelings. lots of love! :*

I have VERY combination skin; oily in my t-zone, dry around my nose and mouth, and normal everywhere else. When I started incorporating a beauty oil (currently using the FRESH seaberry face oil) I noticed a huge difference in the way my entire face looked. It helps control the oilier areas while moisturizing the rest of the face. I also use a gel moisturizer on the oily areas and a normal one on the rest of my face.

This video helped me so much. Just before turning 18 I started to break out on one side of my face, and then months later it spread to the other side, and continued to get worse and worse. In the meantime I had just started university so my skin became something else I had to worry about which was not fun! Any who, I just turned 21 (yay, birthday!! haha) and after trying countless products and peels and treatments my skin has improved a little, but I still struggle with cystic acne and even more so with hyper pigmentation and a lot of scarring. I hate that I feel like I can't leave the house without putting some foundation on, and it really gets me down sometimes. What you said at the start of the video really made me think that I shouldn't be spending so much time worrying about what my skin looks like. I've just started using the Banish Acne kit, so fingers crossed it will sort out my acne and lessen my scars, but I'm also keen to try the Create Cosmetics Cream! Thank you Elanna, you are a beautiful person with a beautiful soul! xx

Your skin looks beautiful! You are right, your skin does not define you. I had TERRIBLE skin in high school and I was so self conscious about it and I messed with my skin as well so it never looked good. I was voted a senior superlative and also on the homecoming court and I feel my personality defined me, not my acne (looking back. I certainly did not believe that then!). Thank you for this video! I have got to try that first product you mentioned!

I'm the exact same! I discovered benzoyl peroxide after nothing else worked and it's changed my skin. Basically I use benzoyl peroxide all over my face every night. I've been doing this for years and I've gone through phases where I run out of benzoyl peroxide or think "maybe I don't need it anymore" and pretty soon my bad acne comes right back. So it's definitely something I have to use for prevention. So glad you shared this with everyone!

Thank you for this video! u have always hated my skin. It was always so red and would get random pimples. I never had full blown acne. I was in Sephora 2 weeks ago and the lady there was putting a foundation on me and said "you have really good skin" and I was honestly shocked. I felt like the world saw my skin how I saw it. After that I actually decided to open my eyes and my mind and saw that my skin isn't so bad. I do get pimples but now I only get 1 then after its gone maybe another one (so annoying!) Girls, your skin will get better, use sensitive products (I use First Aid Beauty cleanser and moisturizer, it makes my skin feel good after), drink water (it actually does work!), and love yourself no matter what!!

Thanks for this video... I know it hits really close to home for a lot of people (myself included). Something I think people should be reminded of if that the red marks left after breakouts are temporary and they will eventually go away! Salicylic acid, vitamin c, and sunscreen are especially good at helping them fade faster. A couple of other ingredients that I would recommend people looking into are vitamin c and retinol. They've both worked wonders on my skin. Also, if you're going to be using ingredients such as benzol peroxide, retinol, or salicylic acid, then you should always REMEMBER TO WEAR SUNSCREEN because these ingredients make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Good luck achieving (and maintaining) clear skin everyone. :) The struggle is real.

What I honestly think worked for me.. and my skin has never ever been so soft and clear was, "Cetaphil" moisturizer (not the one for the face.. just the regular one)! I've never loved a moisturizer more. Nothing else compares, you should definitely give it a try (its from the drugstore too!)
