I love that you didn't start out with a focus on the exact skincare you use but more on your philosophy and how it has helped you find things that work. It's always great to see what someone uses but skincare is so individual that knowing how to figure out what works for you is more helpful. I also like how affordable the products are in your routine, proof that you don't need to spend a ton of money to see improvements. I'm very interested in the zinc oxide and at home IPL steps, definitely going to experiment with those.

This is a fantastic routine! In Poland we can get azelaic acid cream 15% OTC, but so far my fave is one from The inkey List. For nighttime I like their bio-active ceramide repairing and plumping moisturiser. My night time routine: 1. Cleansing balm/oil - cerave/bioderma 2. Cleanser - La Roche Posay Toleriane 3. Real Barrier Cica relief toner 4. Copper peptide serum from The Ordinary 5. Azelaic acid from the Inkey List 6. Geek & Gorgeous retinal 7. The inkey list bio-active moisturizer (if I am extra dry in winter I will use cosrx snail mucin essence under the cream) Day 1. Water splash 2. I have a priming toner from a local brand (basiclab) for sensitive/rosacea skin 3. Azelaic 4. Antioxidant serum with tetra vitamin C or Niod Survival 0 5. Aveeno calm + restore moisturizer or Cerave or the inkey list peptide moisturizer 6. SPF (Eucerin Sensitive mineral or Rovectin mineral)

Great video! I also had amazing results after using a zink oxide cream and would like to share my simple and cheap skincare routine that has done absolute wonders for my rosacea skin. My skin has never looked this good! Step 1: as a cleanser I use Cetaphil, sometimes I add a little baking soda to it Step 2: applying a face oil (I use a vitamin E oil) Step 3: moisturizing my skin with Cetaphil moisturizing cream Step 4: applying a thin layer of sudocrem (gently tapping it into the skin, leave it on all night) I also recommend using a face mask 2 times a week made from baking soda and water. Leave it on for 10 minutes. Baking soda is anti-inflammatory, deeply cleanses your pores and makes them less visible. This mask is great for acne as well. People with rosacea should avoid gluten since it can cause inflammation and you will notice a big difference in your skin (less redness etc.) when you start eating gluten free.

I absolutely adore anything with mugwort in it. I also have rosacea-prone, acne-prone skin but it's a bit more dry and a bit less sensitive, or rather my skin gets really sensitive when it's dry. I also lean towards all-over, smaller impurities and pimples over clusters of breakouts. I have mugwort in my mask, in my cleanser and in my morning moisturizer. If I could afford it in my essences, it'd be a part of that too. It's so soothing, I want it in everything! I also love licorice root and ferments. They make my skin happy.

I didn’t like the Paula’s Choice one either (for multiple reasons), but the Peach Slices one is a beautiful formulation. I have sensitive skin and rosacea and the Azelaic Acid Booster by Paula's Choice is a total game changer for my skin. Redness? Gone by the morning. Acne scars? Visibly faded/calmed down after one time use. I could imagine that it might not be doing much for you because you use it in the third step of your routine *after* the barrier step. Hence, it might not be able to penetrate the skin enough. I would use it as a first step after cleansing and seal with a barrier cream or moisturizer if neccessary.

Thanks for sharing! I get severe rosacea and use a lot of the same products. My main issue is that with the inflammation, my skin barrier totally breaks down and the inflamed spots would peel multiple times a day. The Paula’s choice azelaic acid was the first thing I found that helped. I also started using Weleda skin food out of desperation (I use it on my body for KP), which I would have never done before because of the fragrance, but it was the only thing that proctected my face enough to let my skin barrier rebound. I’m now on the rx 15% azelaic acid from my dermatologist, and it works even better. Love cerave and beauty of Joseon, too!

One product that I resisted for a long time but that has really helped to get rid of some nagging redness is the CosRX Snail Mucin. It works like magic! Plus a urea based toner and Sachi Pro Resilience Serum. Good luck on your skin care journey! I really enjoy your videos.

The main skincare advice I got from my dermatologist was about using sunscreen regularly. Gentle cleansing, yes, avoiding things that will cause irritation, sure, but sunscreen. Zinc oxide is also commonly used in wound care.

Get a good cleanser, depending on your skin type. If you have dry skin, get a cream cleanser, i recommend double cleansing (oil cleanser before cream cleanser). Then get a rich moisturiser that is safe for sensitive skin. After, apply sunscreen with spf 50, even if you are not going out. For me, I use more products for my routine but to start, I think these 3 would be good for you. I recommend getting the mineral sunscreen from Invity.

"I have a feeling this is always going to be the case" Yep. 42 with rosacea and it's always changing. My bro is a chemist who said it very well: when you change on thing in a system like the skin you're changing the whole ecosystem over time. That's why we have to keep changing it up. We are altering the whole ecosystem and the underlying mechanisms are still active because they are not addressable at this point--rosacea is not fully understood.

I resolved my rosacea by water fasting 8 years ago. It has never returned so I guess I can say I'm cured. People just fail to realize the enormous benefits of fasting, both preventative and curative. Our bodies know how to heal ( look up Autophagy) in the absence of food which requires lots of energy to process. We need downtime. Humans are designed to feast and fast but we don't do the latter anymore so are missing out on our built-in ability to heal.

Some azelaic acid formulas itch! I don't personally like the PC version because it not only itches but also stinks! If you want to try another OTC brand, I highly recommend the one from Peach Slices. For more efficacy, I'd shoot for a prescription strength of at least 15%, which is the minimum used in studies that showed benefit, though plenty of people get results at 10%. BUT now you can find OTC products inching up to hit the 14% cap, which I'll be trying out next (don't really care for the texture of prescription formulas).

I’ve used zinc oxide creams for over 25 years. They can be a bit thick so for oilier skins, you can also use calamine lotion. It will dry out a little so it’s the opposite of using it for an occlusive layer. But it’s amazing for skin with a lot of acne. Discovered it by accident when I was using it for chickenpox. It was the only thing I used as a teenager that has any real affect on my acne.

I love your "skincare philosophy" experiment approach. I have been using the same methodology for about 6 months after visiting 10-12 derms who are like, "Meh, it's acne." Spoiler: It was not acne. In my case, I have some kind of rosacea-like (closest to type 2 and ocular yay) condition that developed after I contracted a virus. It took me years to calm my skin down enough to be able to wash it once a day with water. It turns out I have some kind of inflammatory condition in my whole body which doesn't have an "actual disease label.". I had to experiment with diet and vitamins to calm it down. On my face and scalp, I seem to have an autoimmune reaction to my own sebum if it builds up. I'm assuming the extra inflammation comes from the yeast/fungus that feeds off of it. So I started experimenting with rosacea-safe products that calm the skin as well as anti-fungal treatments and BHA exfoliating ingredients and I'm finally seeing improvements. In situations like this, we have to continually keep experimenting. It's so hard to be patient lol. My next step is to figure out how to keep my skin moisturized, since any moisturizer at all (even the gels) encourages the yeast growth from the water content and causes inflammation in a matter of hours. I'd love to someday be able to wear makeup again and address anti-aging concerns with some actives. Thank you for sharing your routine and philosophy. ❤. I'm sorry you also had to struggle, but when the "one size fits all approach" doesn't fit, we've got to take matters into our own hands!

The brand is Cos de Baha and the one absolutely amazing product i always use is the Cos de Baha Toner with Peptide si Argireline, 200 ml. It is in a dark brown large bottle, it is inexpensive, it has the texture of a serum and it does wonders for sensitive skin. I am leaving it here cause i also use the skin 1004 and Beauty of Joseon products and i have realised that after using them, finding something just as good or better becomes a hard task...well, Cos de Baha was one that "wooowed" me not only with quality, but also with pricing. One more product: I saw that you use zinc baby cream as a mask, i used to do that too and then A-derma products showed up. I donno if they are available where you live, this is a french brand, i can find it in almost any farmacy in Europe. The cream is A-derma Dermalibour+ repairing cica with copper and zinc. It is also thought for baby care, so it contains no perfume, it is very thick so i often use it as a mask. This is something i forgot to say in my previous comment, i use no perfume in my skincare cause it makes my skin itchy and i think it also influences my hormones. I only put perfume on clothing sometimes, not very often though. What i find interesting is that my skin doesn't react to essential oils so i am lucky that way, i can use essential oils instead of perfumes. Ok, enough ranting, thank you for your informative video, sending much love your way!❤

@@Vetriyas Yes, for Cos de Baha toner. It is super safe even around the eyes, it is very soothing, just don't use it on open wounds. When I have open wounds I use an antibacterial product there, one that dries, but doesn't further irritate and I drink a lot of water( I use pimple products only locally and I prefer using baby oil with zinc and copper for drying pimples, instead of harsh products specifically for acne). I have sensitive normal to mixed skin. The cream is also great, however, I don't use it regularly, I use it when I feel the skin irritated. What do I mean by that? Even oily or mixed skin sometimes lacks humidity and gets itchy. When I feel like my skin gets like that I use a toner, then an active(like niacinamide, or copper peptide, or vitamin C - i think you can try smth specifically for acne as well, just make sure it is not too harsh - I sometimes use tretinoin, but I make sure I have no open wounds on the face ) and then I wait for 15 minutes and add a layer of the A-derma cream. This seals the other ingredients in, making the actives more efficient and preventing the water loss. The reason it usually works for anybody is that this cream helps your skin heal itself while keeping the surface of the skin clean and providing it with nourishing ingredients like copper and zinc. If I were you, I would first try it once in a 1-2 hours mask while watching a movie or smth instead of leaving it overnight. On oily skin I would use it only after cleaning the skin well, and that means a natural home made mask that works for you, or a low ph cleanser that cleans the pores well, or both. I should add that i always look for products with low ph, especially when my skin goes more on the oily side, because acne bacteria cannot survive in low ph. When my skin is so cray cray that it stopes responding to most things, I go back to basics. I make my own toner using up to a tablespoon of vinegar in 300ml of distilled water and only use that + low ph cleanser for a few days.(sidenote: if you don't have a water distiller, use filtered water or get some rose water or any plant water that your skin likes, those are made by distillation as well). Vinegar lowers the ph. You can also use it in masks. Keep learning and keep trying things, your skin will "tell" you what it likes and what not. And most importantly, "love your skin into health", make sure it knows you are it's friend by avoiding harsh stuff like rubbing alcohol. As a sidenote, also look into retinoids(tretinoin and retinaldehide are my fav), MSM(helps rebuilding tissue in atrophic scars, it really helps people with acne scars, even though you do not hear much about it; internal and external use) , dry oils(like avocado and rosehip oil). essential oils(lavender is a gift from nature, look up the studies) and ingredients that you usually find in scar creams, like silicone, onion extract, etc. Sending much love your way!❤
