I love this exercise. It helps with strengh and mobility. It took me 8 months to achieve it though. I was too afraid to let my shoulders support my weight in that super extended position. I eased into it by having the rings low and alowing my feet to touch the ground. The slowly elevating the rings lead me to the german hang. Getting from the german hang to skin the cat really made my shoulder strong, but it took a couple of months to get from one to the other 😂

Yeah it can be tricky, and good on you for knowing where your limits were. Literally no point in getting injured. Happy you were able to push through, because Skin the cat is quality for the shoulders 👊🏿

Great video! I love this skill. At first it was really scary, but once I got used to it and slowly gained the mobility, I loved this exercise. Apparently when my dad was young he did these on doorframes for fun? Idk that’s just what he tells me.

On a low bar the same principles apply, just that you may struggle to drop your feet as low. But this may be a good thing if you're new to the movement as your feet can then support you 👊🏿
