In my area, we turn the front yard of the Arts Museum into an ice skating rink for the Christmas holidays. I'm not tried it but I did try the one at the mall in Houston, yes a person who cannot ice skate. That was a nightmare because they wouldn't let me get off or turn around to get off I had to go around the whole thing basically trying to walk and hold myself up. Boy where my legs cramping!😂

Alaska subie here! Yes you can make your backyard into an ice rink! Also as a previous person commented, never tried ravens brew but that’s probably cause there’s a local drive thru coffee hut on every corner! Winter is gorgeous for the northern lights and moose sight seeing but summer is gorgeous for the “midnight sun” where there’s about 20 hours of daylight

I live in South Ontario, Canada and its the norm to do this in the winter. You take 2x4 boards and make your rink size. Then you can lay a large tarp that goes up the sides of the boards. Then you slowly fill the rink an inch. Let freez, then another couple inches...let freeze and keep going. It's great! When the weather warms you remove 1 side and let the water out. Voila, ice rink ❤

In Southcentral Alaska, where Anchorage is located, more people drink Kaladi Brothers coffee than Ravens Brew. Kaladi Brothers is a local coffee roasting company and a lot of restaurants offer their coffee. Ravens Brew is from Ketchikan which is in southeast Alaska, also known as the Panhandle. You could turn your yard into an ice rink, most people don’t. Not sure why. We welcome visitors, they’re an important part of our economy. Come around June 21st for the 19 hours of daylight, it will blow your mind.

Here, in Buffalo, NY, having your own ice rink is very normal. Also, we wear shorts in the snow. It's a Buffalo thing, although I'm sure it's common practice for people who get a lot of snow. Once a year, the city closes down a very high thruway so people can go sledding on it. We also have igloos and bikes for rolling around on the lake.

Random comment, but I just have to get this off my chest. 😂 : Get a Waterpik (or another water flosser) and a coffee grinder that can grind coffee in different degrees of coarseness. Both slightly life changing in their own way. 😊 Btw, when you live in a cold climate, the whole winter feels like ice skating, but with regular shoes on.

Washington is my state, I am 5 minutes from the Columbia River and Gorge. I couldn't live anywhere else. Yes, Portland is still a food city. Thanks for the shoutout! I'm so curious about the gymnastics - how old were you and after 3 years you didn't pull yourself up onto a bar? That's OK, curious because I used to coach gymnastics. My daughter looks back on her gymnastic competitive years & will hardly talk about them. Switching to ballet, in her case, was so much better with her teacher who was calm and supportive. She did end up going the New York route. She now teaches Yoga (she's 40). I enjoyed this talkative video! SIDE NOTE: Her new gym coach was one of Tonya Harding's coaches and that is when we pulled out!

Haha “they tear up ground episodically and regroup” I don’t know how Dr Dray pieced those words together but I love it! Everything she said about her ballet instructor was copy and paste for how my high school baseball coach talked to us. The pressure put on a 14 year old trying to make the Freshman team was insane and looking back I wish I’d spoken my mind more and not worried about what other people would think.
