This video is truly amazing! Everything is so well explained, I'll definitely forward it to friends who ask me about skincare! I could almost hear the "except Ultrasun which is the 1% of SPF that needs to be applied first" ;) You addressed every caveat I mentally added (except one) and still kept it under 23 minutes, bravo! My one caveat would be: I would not use oil before SPF. If it's a drop for the entire face then maybe... but I see people massively overdoing it and I believe an oily base will affect the effectiveness of the SPF. But the video is a 10/10!
@PamperedWolf3 жыл бұрын
Oil before SPF is fine as long as you allow the oil to sink in before the SPF is used. Also it can be great to use if your spf is oil based rather than water based. Unless you slather yourself in it, you should be fine xxx

Great video! It takes several informative videos like this one to educate the masses. I’ve been into skincare for many years now so I get it all, the names don’t scare me and I know what product/ingredients do this or that. Being influenced by every knew thing doesn’t help either (I’ve been there, so has my wallet). If I was starting again I’d get samples, then buy one new product every payday and build it over a couple of months. Then when you’ve got your HGs you can buy several as backups when they come on sale and never pay full price again! Sometimes also peeps expensive doesn’t mean better! I have drugstore, script and high end in my routine (K beauty, salon only etc etc). TIP: put a post it note inside vanity mirror with am and pm routine so you know what for when. Have a grand week everyone. :)

Great video - love when you talk skin care 😀 I have seen a video by dermatologist Shereene Idriss about HA, she strongly advice NOT to use HA, as it will dry out the skin. My skin is dehydrated, so I have tried to eliminate HA from my routine - it has only been a few weeks, but I actually think that it has helped 🤔
@PamperedWolf3 жыл бұрын
She's right but not entirely. If you use a HA it's really important that you lock it in with a good thick moisturiser or you run the risk of transepidermal water loss. If you live in an arid climate then HA is a big NO NO, but a humid climate is great. There are lots of pluses and negatives xxx

It's nearly a bad word now in skincare ,but my sensitive rosacea prone skin loves a good night moisterizer with petroleum in it as it's so occlusive, it really sooth and calms my skin,all these new occlusive ingredients that are replacing it eg caprylyl trygleceride, squalane and silcons my skin 7 not a fan of.although in the day I find petroleum to occlusive and traps heat in different environments and leaves me red face. I use a spf that has shea butter which helps
@rosej96863 жыл бұрын
I'm interested in how the layering should be done with respect to pH rather than consistency. I've heard that using an acidic product just before your Vitamin C serum helps the vitamin c penetrate better. A higher pH would neutralize the vitamin c and render it useless.
@PamperedWolf3 жыл бұрын
That’s not entirely correct, but you’re on the right lines. This is true with super strong actives, but like I say in the video, if you keep strong actives separate, you shouldn’t have an issue with ph affecting the product’s efficacy. Keep products to a minimum and you’ll not have any issues. X

Great video Gem, Im hopeless with skin care! I use micellar water from la roche posay and I have really enjoyed using it. How do you feel about micellar water?
@Donna-cc1kt3 жыл бұрын
You didn’t ask me but I’ve heard unfriendly things about it. I’ve used it and it’s too drying for me. It does take off the makeup and especially eye makeup but if I don’t wash it off my skin isn’t happy. So to make it simpler and skip a step, I use the oil cleanser and my skin is comforted. I think she gave it a brief negative remark once and I’ve never heard that she uses it. Cheers.

Great video! I really appreciate that you clearly state that it all comes down to knowing your skin. Many of us would like someone trustable to tell us what to put on our skin and be the best of ourselves without having the real interest in understanding it 🦮 Myself included. It took me a while, but I finally get it 💡 At least, I hope I do 🤞 I have fairly tolerant skin. What concerns me is if the two actives combined may neutralise each others effect. Most of the time research is not there so it boils down, again, to me, myself & I understanding my skin and learning from my own applications :-) Thank you for this video 🌼

Then my moisturizer to lock everything in. Do you think that order is OK or should I do the Peach and Lily Serum BEFORE my CUROLOGY ? Thanks Gemma! ❤️

Hi darling, I need some good advice about Chanel Le Lift creme (day-nignt). They say that "LE LIFT Crème is formulated with a new star ingredient: botanical alfalfa concentrate, as efficient as retinol and in a formula that is gentle on the skin". Should it be considered as a retinoid creme anyway? I use them both, day and night formulas, almost every day. Should I use something different every now and again? (I'm 50, with dry skin and few wrinkles). Thank you in advance! :-*
@PamperedWolf3 жыл бұрын
Retinoids are still gold standard and have far more research to back them up. Alfalfa concentrate may have some similarities, like it's small quantity of vitamin A, but it's effects aren't as potent. It does have lovely moisturising qualities though, and it's a great anti-oxidant xxx

It's so difficult to know what to choose. Thanks so much :)

Oder of application? I am always confused about what an essence is. I tended to think of them as light, even watery. But I don’t know what to think about snail mucin. I have COSRX 96% Snail Mucin Filtrate Essence. So essence, right smack in the face, BUT it’s texture is more like a rather thick serum and sticky (filtrate, you’ll know, also has naturally occurring HA). I’m using Tretinoin (with hydroquinone) and thought it would make a good buffer prior to Tretinoin. What do you think of that specifically, and placement in general (not Tretinoin specific)? Thank you so much. ps Tretinoin is early days, appr. 2 months & getting some mild irritation - redness and flaky on one spot, left side of chin).
