Squires,Catford and The Crystal Palace Hotel were my 'stomping' grounds for a good Friday night out. Great memories of early Madness gigs - we went all over the place: Camden, Leics, Canterbury, Rickmansworth. Hardest thing to believe is we got there on trains!! What a laugh. Now 47 and still love the original Ska. Saw Madness at the 02 in Dec - wish I hadn't been driving - only sober one there!!!

My sister and her then-b'friend got me into ska without even realising!! I was 9 in '69. Just have to look at a Trojan record label to smile: still love the music. My ol' man and our mates were skins in the 70s, so we followed Madness etc. Lots of laughs. Of course, I had all the original 45s/33rpms - Symarip, Tighten Up Vol 2 (now got on CD lol!), so thought I was all that haha! Still love a crop - just as well, my ol' man still has one!

Original suedehead 69. Kford skins. Dancing at the Summerhill, Kingfisher, L Shaped Room, Liberal Club. Thousands of skins at The Hawthorns Brummie Rd end. Butlins 1969 skins everywhere. Skinhead army. Tonic suits, red socks, Grensons or Loakes, 21in centre vents, 3 pointed hankies. Soul Stylists. Remembering Big John, Ronnie Knott, Carey and Donk. What a time we had. Magical!

Toooo true! One of my sister's went out with a skin around 1970 (he was gawjus, even if I was only 10!!). Lovel the clothes&music. Still got her vinyl LP Tighten Up Vol 2 &Vol 1&2 on CD now. And my brother sitting in the bath in Levis! And again in the late 70s with my (now) ol' man. We had jokes then and look back with a grin now. I'm a nan now, so like to remind myself I had a hectic social life...once!

We were smooths to start with, wearing checked shirts,LEE jeans with small half inch turn ups with Brogues. which of course went into the classic skin clobber and by 1973 back to smooths again.

OMG, so many memories come flooding back, the "run" at Southend (in the vid), the calm before the storm at Brighton (couple pics there too), Tooting Castle on a friday, smacking Mod's up on the saturday in Carnaby Street... Ol' Terry's Last Resort, drinking it up with chubby chris at the Blue Coat Boy... Hehe Anyone remember Norma Green, when she marked your card, you didn't dare say no cos she was scary... her sister was gorgeous ^^ I also remember what Busta did at the 1984 IoW rally...

Great video, Started off as a Mod, but turned skin in 1966, reasons I liked the clobber, Crombie/Harrington and the music, not forgetting the SX200 and of course the great bunch of mates. Were not rasist, used to hang out at the local West Indian clubs for the music. Local area Rugby/Coventry. Used to seem to have a lot of trouble keeping the Greasers under control. Cheers for the pictures and music. David

i feel deep within my bossome that we need to unit as loving spritis of ourselves. GREAT ALMIGHTY. there are no colors in this world my brothers of light and good things, there is a place witha stream that leads all souls entranced by the benevolent one down toward a cleansing place of beauty and equality and this place, this...stream...it-helps...and this streams bio-geographical location is deep within the fibers of our most sacred and primordial sense. Im talking about the heart my brothers.
