Welcome back to Pro Shop. In this video I fit the new door skins and guards on the RBEH ute. A lot of people have been asking how the new Rare Spares guards and valance fit along with the Rust-A-Problem door skin so I'll give my opinion on them at the end of the video.

You have to be special devoted people to do this type of work. To me it is a work of Art when you need people like this fellow to bring a vehicle back to life, really they are Doctors of the Motor Vehicle industry. I am glad to have known theses Doctors as they have brought back to life several utes .for me. Great to see another ute coming back to life, great work !

A+ again Pete re. content and presentation, this is what DIY-ers like me want to see and hear. Great tips re. dropping the car back onto stands and taping the door shell and skins for final tweaks. Priceless info. Thanks also for the heads up with the panels, as I'm about to do some shopping. Cheers

A short 4 months of 60 and upper body strength surprises a lot of people. Couldn't have anything to do with 43yrs lifting, hammering etc, car parts motors diffs and on it goes. Funny part is even my dissabled side spins people out.😅 Love the work buddy. Hope your passion lasts for your life time. Thanks for the posting of video. Keeps me motivated in this cold weath, stops me focussing on aches and pains.👍👍🙂

@@ProShop1 Facts friend never met😉 Heres a nother one for you! In 2005 I sent Faxs Emails etc etc to ever Pseudo Goverment Departments on the Continent telling them I wanted to establish a workshop for people with dissabilities and mental ilness. To pass on 3 generations of Automotive Engineering Knowledge along with knowledge obtained from a 7th generation Blacksmith. And all I learned in workshops my father took me into doing Old school coach building. And and and. 🙂 hearscthe kicker some of the phone calls etc I got from these fake Departments was yeah nahhh can't let you do that coz we all loose our jobs taking all week moving paper from one side of our desk to the other. The above was definately the defining moment in my life to form an interesting oppinion of Pseudo Goverments of Australia.😂

that's the best i've ever seen gapping the door skins (folding the edges better). most i've seen cut/trim and end up welding them to the frame edge or they just seem to fit perfectly

Nice Job, i see they have pneumatic tools to roll them over now, i have never used one myself, but a friend modified one of those straight needle scalers to do it years back, used a car engine valve for the hammer face..it worked reasonably well.

Great work, you make it look easy. The only thing is never use silicone for drip check, most silicones cause rust because they are acidic and they will also give you hell painting with fish eyes. There is a proper automotive caulk for the seal.

a good tip to prevent rust between the door skin and shell is use seam sealer inside the door leaving a opening for the drains i've been doing this for years and it works well better than relying on the paint to stop water getting between them gaps should be about 4-5 mills

Awesome vid , especially showing everyone how to trim and set up the frame before setting up the skin, I do have a couple of questions, I don’t know how many hundreds of skins I’ve done over the years but there was a couple of things I noticed, you started rolling the edge at the front top and started to work your way round, the last time I did that was when I was an apprentice because I found that by the time you get to the back bottom corner it’s grown about three mil, just my observation but I would always roll over the two tops first and then the bottom corners and then move around the skin filling it in, it will stay where it’s put, also you talked about sealing the door straight after rolling it over, did you welded the skin to the frame cos that’s going to flop around like an old nuns nasty, sorry you just didn’t show it,,,

Another great ep. For me, I think it loses a lot of it's identity losing the quarter windows. I didn't like it when they stopped using them and went to single pane, especially if it was raining and you could open them a crack for ventilation and to exchange the air to help defog the screen due to the fan resistors burning out ;-)

Like the Video Pete, great work as usual. Just a quick question. Why the temporary brace with turnbuckle in the window opening? Was it just to hold the door shape while skinning the door?
@ProShop1
@ProShop1 Ай бұрын
Good spotting Paul. I forget to add that to the video but yeah your right. The door sprung open when I removed the outer skin so I used the turn buckle to hold it in place while I put on the new skin.
