Skinning lambs, suckling lambs, and saving lives

Hello 👋
Welcome to Sam Shutt Farming, daily life on the Hill farm
This is Sam and Oliver plus 4 children farming beef sucklers and sheep in the North Yorkshire/Cumbria border area.
We are first-generation farmers, and we've had no help at all to get to where we are now. We are here to show you our life and what we do. I am also here to show new entrance that it is possible to start from scratch. Being strong-willed, determined, and a lot of hard work, you can do it.
We are both from farming backgrounds. I grew up on a family dairy farm. Milking from a very young age.Working for my uncle when i left school. I've learnt everything from him and grown ever since. I met Oliver when I was 16 he was 15. We started with a few sheep when we met and have built up over the 16 years to where we are now. We took on a 500-acre hill farm in 2019, currently 5 years into the tenancy.
Also, here to show people women can be useful in the agricultural world.😉😁

You doing really well Sam. Well done on getting the white board up and on the lamb you skinned and got on the ewe ,the adoption you done and got the lamb to suck eventually. If the adopted lamb dont suck its hard for the ewe to bond with it. For the lambs with rattle belly, mix a spoon of bread soda with water and give it to them over a few hours along with an injection of dexaject. Your vet will sort you out with it.

Also Anti inflammatory for pneumonia I used Dexadresson. It took the medical profession a long time to cotton during covid.

Aye it’s called a gimmer 😊 try an enema for the bloated belly lambs 5ml warm soapy water , works every time !
