This video is great. I'm just now accepting the fact that the ideal physique is a long process, not a short 30 day transformation like we are sold on social media. It's about cycles of cutting and lean bulking and every time you begin a cut starting with more muscle mass, an overall lower body fat percentage, and a fully restored metabolism so you can cut on a higher amount of calories.

I was skinny my whole life and went on a year long bulk. By the end I was 195 and looked like shit (love handles, gut, puffy face) and have finally been on a cut for two months. I’m now at 175 almost with a visible six pack and haven’t lost my gains. I feel so much better at a lower body fat percentage than when fluffy. I never want to go back to being that big. Lean bulk from here on out.
@enteoz1694 Жыл бұрын
Super late comment, but probably just didn't train hard enough to keep up with the weight gain, the atrophy and cellulite generally comes from a lack of muscle control if you're already putting in decent amounts of physical activity. Weighted push-ups in your case probably would've been much better on your frame's development with even growth, but anyways good luck with your progress.

I can attest to this philosophy. March of this year i was 5'9" 135 and thought I looked good. Started going to the gym literally just to sculpt the 6 pack before the summer. Thankfully I found this channel and since following Alex's advice I've put on 25 lbs and could not be happier with the way my physique has developed. Abs still visible but once I really started to put on muscle especially in the yolk region I literally stopped caring about the "hunger bumps" and realized people only see your abs when your shirt is off. 2 young bone skinny guys have been lifting at my gym for a year. I’m trying to find a polite way to ask why they aren’t eating more or not gaining weight. Like maybe asking, “ how much weight have you gained?” I don’t see a point to lifting and staying bone skinny as the results will be 10 % of normal imo. I feel the results might be equal if not better if they stopped lifting and just ate more so they could gain weight lol

I think the skinny skinny guys should lean bulk. The skinny fat guys should recomp then lean bulk. It just makes more sense. This benefits both because the skinny skinny/ skinny ripped guy is getting bigger which is his main goal, and the skinny fat guy is getting leaner which is his main goal. We might as well classify skinny fat guys as being fat because their body fat is in the obese range. I assume Alex is talking mainly about the skinny skinny guys in this video. The guys who already have low body fat. If that's the case then yes a lean bulk would be optimal. But skinny guys with high body fat should just lift weights and stay at maintenance. I know this is a good strategy because I used to be very very very skinny fat with man boobs and I stayed at maintenance and got gains.

I have literally no idea how a skinny guy can get fat. I am not that skinny but it's just almost impossibile for me to get above 15% bf. I could eat 5000kcal a day still, it just helps me put on mass. But I also lose size very fast. 3 days of not eating enough and i lose some gainz. Idk..

I stay at 18-21%bf. If i get to out of control i do 4-6wk mini cut to get back to 16-18% then back to bulking

Q&A- what do you think about athlean x saying if you eat in a slight deficit and lift heavy and eat a lot of protein you can build muscle and burn fat at the same time?

At even a 20% surplus what kind of pounds gained/time is expectable? 5 lbs a month? 7?

How do you work out how many calories have been burned by working out?

Im at 72 kg bodyweight (182cm) I dont get heavier but I keep getting stronger. I can do 90 kg bp, 15 pullups and 16 dips now but it feels like I look the same like a few months ago (no abs,still fat on hips/belly) What should I do?

I've been going to the gym for 7~ months now, I was skinny fat in January. I started at 145~ lbs, and now im around 163~ lbs. I haven't been gaining any mass for the last 3 weeks, whereas previously I made progress. I look a lot better but I still have a little bit of fat hanging on the gut and chest. What do you recommend I do? My program is Stronglifts 5x5 but for the last 1 month I switched to bodybuilding because Im staying at my cousins house and the only gym available here is Planet Fitness. I'm 17, and 5'8. Thanks in advance Alex

I'm a boxer who's getting ready for wrestling season and I need some tips on bulking. I also wanna know when should I do bjj and Muay Thai?
@Menaceblue36 жыл бұрын
Antonio Taylor LOL wut? From my experience if you're doing two sports in the same season, that's going down the road to nowhere.
@FN-bq2si6 жыл бұрын
Menaceblue3 Not really and boxing is all year around not seasonal so I might take a brake from that but you can do both at the same time lmao if u say u can't ur just putting urself down and u have no confidence or u are just lazy
@levone89586 жыл бұрын
Why are you bulking for wrestling season?
@levone89586 жыл бұрын
Menaceblue3 it’s possible but it’s hard. I did BJJ and wrestling in the same season, I was eating a fuckload so I could recover for both, and it was pretty fun.
@FN-bq2si6 жыл бұрын
Levon SW I'm bulking because I wanna have a good weight and Ik it's possible to do both but since tournament times might be ending around my area I might take a brake from boxing or I'll try to balance the two out but ik it might be hard but that's going to make u a better person overall

Alex, what do you think about doing full body 3x a week and 3 split days in the same week? I’ve been trying it out and I have to say I feel it has helped me make really good strength gains while still getting some good hypertrophy in there
@shrexyboi1850 Жыл бұрын
How do you set that up?

the hard part is how exactly do u calculate all of this shit..? 10% surplus? how the fuck can i know that bro :s
@harshitreddevil68166 жыл бұрын
Omar said 15% body fat should be the limit. If you cross that, you should consider doing a mini cut.
@AlexLeonidas6 жыл бұрын
For looking lean, I'd agree. Not for being massive though. 15-20% is the best range for looking huge naturally. Make 20 your cap

What do you mean by stall. Stall in weight or stall in lifts
@Kraken-mz3bk6 жыл бұрын
Stall in weight probable.
@AlexLeonidas6 жыл бұрын
Stalling in lifts. If maintenance isn't working, a slight surplus will usually do the trick. EDIT: That said, you struck an additional point which is key. If weight stalls, increase the food.

I have double chin at 140 pounds. Went from 120 to 140 in space of year and half. Should I keep bulking or cut? I can't grow a beard to cover double chin and it's starting to piss me off.

Micky _ I'm the same way, even at 130 I have a double chin if I try to bulk. neck curls help

How old are you? You're likely skinnyfat as well. I recommend focusing on gaining size first
@micky_67856 жыл бұрын
I'm 25. Was going to go to bulk to 160 then do a cut. But double chin is just annoying at my weight.
