Skinny Puppy will 4ever go down in the annals of industrial and black metal history as 1 of the best, heaviest, most influential bands of their time and genres. For all the nin fans out there, must know that Trent would never have had nin if not for being influenced by skinny puppy. I will try to see or talk to them at any cost. Especially bc im just over my northern border from them. I'm also ashamed that I never saw them live. But in defense, I recall very few opportunities to see them in wi, usa. Industrial metal must regain its place above all forms of electronic music and = to all real heavy music that utilizes real instrumentation!

I just have to say that skinny puppy has been copied so many times. Yes by Trent Reznor. Also I mean the whole song “down in it”sounds like “dig it by”. also, the stilts Brian Warner has been using that forever and ever and he copies a lot of people but we do have some good bands, but we have skinny puppy to thanks for that. They have amazing lyrics. I am always blown away by the lyrics, I can’t believe they’re not bigger than they are they are they have like a cult following unfortunately every day people don’t know how good this music is !:(Also that the government they tortured people at Guantánamo Bay using this music and maybe MM ??! Hey man it’s protest music makes it me sick and I’m so glad ogre did something about that. Thank you SP for your amazing lyrics and your relevancy, in your new and older music !! I’m so grateful my friends got me into this music and I was young listening to this music .:)I had this actually it was the videos and then it was this live. Wish I still had it anyway.💔🖤

Around 2008 when I was 15-16, I discovered Project Pitchfork and thought how awesome and original they were. At the time, I only stumbled upon Skinny Puppy's new stuff that I didn't like and didn't pay more attention to the band. Now at 30 I finally found this and feel sad for learning what a rip-off one of my most favorite bands I have grown up with were. They pretty much copied the whole SP's style in their early works. 🙁
@rebeccaschley5146 Жыл бұрын
I recently found out that Skinny Puppy essentially ripped off the sound of an even earlier band called Portion Control. I didn't want to believe that a band I thought was wholly unique took their sound from anyone, but they did. Apparently SP acknowledges this in interviews. It doesn't change how important Skinny Puppy has been to me all through my life. Project Pitchfork is also an incredible band. I hope you still enjoy their music.

You've GOT TO BE KIDDING! They were years before Nine Inch Nails! Take a listen to Skinny Puppy's Dig It and then NIN Down in it. Look at the years each one was produced! Trent admitted to ripping it off, or being influenced by Skinny Puppy. Plus Ministry, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk etc. Trent wishes he was as hot as Ogre. Yes, Trent is a musical "genious" too, but much more self indulgent. Skinny Puppy is tops, always. Trent just got more famous. I like NIN, don't get me wrong, but I will defend Ogre to the hilt! Skinny puppy was formed in 1982 and Deep Down Trauma Hounds was released in 1987, which incidentally is the same year the concert video 'Ain't it Dead Yet?' was released (which this video is taken from). Nine Inch Nails was formed in 1988 and their first major release came out in October 1989. It is curious, how Skinny Puppy managed to steal Trent Reznor's look, seeing as this was filmed almost 2 years before NIN formed...
