I am glad you took him from the class. I adopted my first piggie Frodo for my pre-k class but after watching your videos I never took him. I adopted another piggie Bear for him loved them so much I now have four all together. Best decision I made not to take them. I now have a tadpole in my class instead. The class named him TAD.

I found a pea size lump on my guinea pig lenny. I am glad I always check him over and have found it at such a small size but still sad at what it could be. He sees the vet on monday. Wish him luck!

I'm Minnesotan, born and raised. The biggest storm in my memory (lifetime maybe? I'm 53) happened on October 31, 1991. Over 6 feet of snow in a little over 36 hours. I ran in the ditch twice on my way home from work. So, being from the north you learn to just roll with it. My way to get through the winters is a lot of self care and pampering. I make my own scented oils and salt scrubs, so it's not expensive at all....and it keeps me moisturized. I've discovered that well moisturized skin is warmer than dry flaky skin. For me anyways.

I also have a hay ''shake out bin''. I shake out all of the small items like hay mats, beds, pads and tunnels. I only shake liners outside because they're so large. It saves me a lot of time and having a big mess.

When your housing a baby guinea and adult together, what do you do for pellets because don't babies need baby pellets and adults need adult guinea pig food?

i did have a question about fleece though. i bought 3 different patterns, 2 of which wicked fine, no problems.. But the other one i must have washed 10 times so far and still wont let water pass thru it.. Any suggestions? Or is it possible it will just never wick?

I have issues with getting the pee smell out of my fleece liners. I even try baking soda and vinegar to wash them. Do you find yours still smell after washed and dried? Eventually I throw my fleece out and buy new.

Just took a Guinea pig that I'm fostering for a friend in college to the vet and am so heartbroken because she needs tooth surgery but with her being so old (4 almost 5) it could be dangerous but without the surgery she only has a few months left and she would essentially starve to death, so I feel surgery is the best option because even if she did pass away at least it wouldn't be painful with the general anesthesia. I'm just so nervous and want her to be okay

It will give her a chance. Calvin had surgery when he was 5.5 and did very well. Make sure to have critical care on hand, pain medications.

It is insulated down there, has floor vents for heat from the furnace and back up is the space heater that can come one if it reaches a certain temperature.

RIP Nanook. Abby, when you shake out your liners in the laundry room, how much of the hay/hair/ actually comes off? I try to brush off as much as possible but it seems like there's quite a bit that gets in the wash! I'm worried my washer will end up on the fritz because of it! A lot of it does come off! You could always buy a small hand vac to vacuum up and down the liner after you have shook it.

another cheap way to clean is rubbing alcohol mixed with water in a spray bottle. I use vinegar and water to clean as well! No reason to use harsh chemicals I agree!

you should try the snack size cucumbers as they have less seeds and it's the seeds that cause the most bloat. I cut just the edges of my cucumber and my guinea pig does a lot better

Hello! I have a quick question!! I have my 2 female pigs and 1 baby girl in a 2 by 4 c&c cage and I use fleece! I sew, so I make my own liners with fleece and uhaul of course, but, my liners are always shrinking! I make them larger than the need to be for this reason, but they still really shrink in the wash! I wash them on cold, and dry them on low heat but I can’t stop them from shrinking! Do yours shrink? Do you have any tips? Btw I love your videos! Thanks!

Yes, fleece shrinks. I ask for my liners to be 3-4 inches larger than needed so that they end up being just about perfect.

It very well could be, were taking the least invasive approaches first, to knock those off the list. The location of it on his delicate nose pose a lot of issues if it is cancer.

No, he is a domesticated guinea pig. They are similar though for coats, it is called agouti.

Do you think a guinea pig would be suitable for a very responsible ten year old? She's had 5 hamsters all of which have lasted the 3 years they're supposed to live and this would be her first set of pigs. She already knows plenty and she's homeshooled so she'd be able to be with them all day...
