I've never owned any other type of CB Radio before, but I'd imagine it would be pretty similar to the Cobra, they both transmit at 4 watts, the only two differences between this radio and the Midland is Cobra has something called Sound Tracker which helps make weak signals more strong, which I do notice helps, but the big thing that matters is the Antenna!! You can buy a 30 dollar CB Radio and if you buy the best CB Antenna with it you will get great range, the antenna is what counts
