Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier’s trilogy fight ended in a shocking way on Saturday night. At the end of the first round, McGregor stepped back and broke his lower leg right above his ankle. Poirier was announced the winner via TKO from a doctor’s stoppage. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss whether McGregor had a shot to win the fight if his leg wasn't broken or not.

Connor is not good on the ground. But, he was winning on the feet. In regards to Rhonda Rousey, she was trying TOO hard to evolve and strike due to the external pressure for her to finish her fights in a manner other than submission. Had she focused on submitting Amanda or Holly... She could have won those fights. Conor is not washed up. But, if he wants the win over Dustin, his take down defense needs improvements.

Dustin evolved over the years by training with the best of the best in American Top Team. Conor trains on his own which limits his ability to evolve as the sport evolves. That constant competition forces you to strengthen your weaknesses, while Conor's ego leads him to only see his strengths. It takes humility to get better. If Conor joins a fight camp, that may help him to work on the weaknesses in his game. Dustin seems to have developed superior skills in every aspect-- standing and on the ground. He can literally choose how he wants to finish him. Not to mention Dustin has unmatched heart and will to go with it. Conor actually has people following him around to hand him a drink, ear buds, towel, etc. Maybe he needs people around him that are willing to challenge him and push him to the next level, but I don't think his ego will allow for that. He will surround himself with yes men

Yes and no. Conor in his prime used spinning heel kicks and hook kicks to keep his opponent in the center for the boxing range and eventual left hand devastator. He never really used leg kicks, much less calf kicks and wasnt using proper placement or technique.

Whew, man. Connor breaking his leg on Saturday was on of the most gruesome injuries I’ve witnessed. I didn’t think the Notorious one was gonna win regardless. I had Dustin Poirier winning this. Because ever since his fight against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. about 4 years ago, Connor hasn’t really taken his training seriously. He got complacent once he got that payout from the Mayweather fight.

When peoples legs start going, imo its pretty much over. Anderson Silva broke his leg on Weidman and it was never the same. Weidman just fked his leg up, he should retire cuz his chins been rocked a million times and now hes breaking his leg doin leg kicks....not good. Conors legs were a problem in the second fight, his knee buckled right before he got KO'd and his knee is broke.
