I mean, they were the ones who poked the proverbial hornets nest with going to Xen, which eventually lead to the Black Mesa Incident and the Combine taking notice of Earth. A lot of the Half Life universe’s problems can be traced back to them.

@@MorkiMoo tbf it's still not easy to pin the blame simply on black mesa. BM were researching teleportation tech (that's arguably better than whatever aperture was doing) and were taking samples from Xen, but that's it. BM never intended for a resonance cascade, Gman did. It was gman who snuck in the extra pure sample and then breen who pestered and pressured the anamolous materials labs to forgo the safety parameters. sure, one can argue that the lab personnel should've grown some spine and refused to proceed but then breen could just fire and replace the resistant staff with more obedient ones

This is one of the kicks of Skipfighter's Gmod Realism, it's not just edits with gun mods fitted with amazing looking animations and mechanics added on to them to pass off as "realism". They know how to tell a story, although short but very good. Sometimes I wish these stories shared the same universe, and each addition is a sequel or prequel, maybe in between.

Like to think this takes place after Episode 2, considering the "I kinda miss The Combine" line. Where the only threat now outside of the remaining Overwatch forces are the Xenian creatures, and of course: The Headcrab Infestation. On another note, that last part is just depressing man.

That's a good thought about it taking place after episode 2 but after a long time. Because there's probably still alot of combine left. But I think the voice line is just a snarky remark about fighting the zombies as they see them as worse than the combine and just wish to be above ground fighting them instead.
